Speaking to TMZ, a representative the ex-wife of R. Kelly, Andrea Lee, has stated that Lee is currently not against the singer staying in contact with their three children — Jay, Joann, and Robert Jr. — who are all currently adults now. However, the rep also claims that the family has not heard from him for months.

The representative for Lee claims that she has acknowledge that since their children are all fully grown now and understand the accusations against their father in the Lifetime docuseries, Surviving R. Kelly. The rep added that Lee would have to see if their children are interested in resuming their relationship with their father beforehand.

Additionally, it was reported that none of R. Kelly’s children watched the new docuseries. It appears Lee softened her initial stance. Previously, Lee labelled R. Kelly as a monster and accused him of abuse, but she also denied any direct knowledge of the allegations against him.

Supporters of R. Kelly have also noted a video of Lee playing the R. Kelly song, “Happy People,” where she appears to be mocking R. Kelly’s critics.

In response to the video, Andrea Lee’s rep stated, “This (video) in no way should be perceived as an extension of support for the singer, but should be viewed as a statement of her strength and not having been defeated.” Not to mention, it was noted that the clip in question is several years old.
