R. Kelly is asking a judge to reduce his child support payments, just as his ex-wife made claims he cut off his payments in an attempt to silence her. TMZ reports that Kelly is planning to file a motion asking to have the amount of money he has to pay Drea Kelly reduced, as he is unable to pay his ordered amount of $161,633.

The outlet notes that his motion could take szeveral days to rule on the motion, and there is no guarantee that it would succeed. He would remain in prison until the ruling is made or he pays off the full amount, which he is currently seeking help from others to do as a Plan B in case the ruling doesn’t go his way. Kelly was arrested on Wednesday for failure to pay his back child support.

Meanwhile, Drea Kelly’s rep told TMZ that the R&B star had been sporadically playing child support up until she appeared on Sister Circle Live in June of last year and claimed he had been physically and mentally abusive to her while they were married. Once the interview aired on television, her rep says that the payments completely stopped. She alleges that he attempted to control her through his child support payments, saying that he would sometimes make full payments, but sometimes be late or just not pay anything at all.

Drea’s rep also says that while Kelly complained that he cannot make money because of her allegations, that’s false because the #MuteRKelly movement began over a year before she spoke out.

Kelly is facing ten counts of sexual abuse, and is being investigated for a new case in which he allegedly had sex with a thirteen year-old in 2001 and continued the relationship for four years, giving her herpes when she was seventeen.
