R. Kelly’s lawyer is denying that his client is responsible for a planned meeting between one of his alleged “sex slaves” and her family going awry. Kelly’s lawyer spoke with TMZ about the plan for Azriel Clary and her family to meet falling apart at the last minute on Saturday and pushed back on reports that Kelly threw a monkeywrench in the way by calling for a location switch at the last minute.

According to Steve Greenberg, Clary was the one who asked for a change in venue, insisting on the location change from a previously-decided spot to a conference room at Trump Tower Chicago, where Kelly lives. He said she wanted to control what she believed would be a media circus arranged by her family over the meeting and would have a say over who could get into the building. After her family found out, they cancelled the meeting entirely.

Greenberg added that Kelly was never going to be at the meeting and that reports he pushed for more security as well are false. Clary has not seen her family in years and has maintained that she is with Kelly, — currently on trial for ten counts of sex abuse charges — by choice.

This is, by the way, a different woman than Joycelyn Savage, who is also an alleged sex slave of Kelly’s and also had a meeting with her family in the works. That meeting got cancelled for the same reason as Clary’s, with Savage insisting it take place in Chicago.

The family’s lawyer said, “On Friday, R Kelly’s camp tried to abruptly change the terms of the meeting at which time my clients and I decided not to participate because the terms were not acceptable. We are now attempting to reschedule the meeting on agreeable terms so my clients can see their daughter.”
