Rihanna Earns Her 30th Top 10 Hit On The Billboard Hot 100

February 22, 2017 | Posted by Joseph Lee

Billboard reports that Rihanna has now earned her 30th top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100, after “Love on the Brain” moves 13-8. She breaks a tie with Michael Jackson for third-most for a solo artist, as both previously had 29. The two are both behind The Beatles (34) and Madonna (38).

Rihanna also has the second-fastest ascent to thirty top ten songs (from first-ever week in top ten to 30th). She first hit the top ten with “Pon De Replay” on July 16, 2005. She reached the milestone in ten years, seven months and two weeks. Only the Beatles did it faster. It only took five years, nine months and two weeks (January 25, 1964 – November 8, 1969) to get thirty top ten hits from “I Want To Hold Your Hand” to “Something.” Madonna took twelve years, eight months and two weeks from “Borderline” (June 16, 1984) to “Don’t Cry For Me Argentina” (March 1, 1997). This means it’s been twenty years, to the week, since an act hit thirty top ten hits, as the latest chart is dated March 4.
