Rihanna Set To Develop Her Own Lingerie Line

March 7, 2018 | Posted by Joseph Lee

WWD reports that Rihanna is working with TechStyle Fashion group to produce a new line of lingerie. TechStyle is a company with several brands, including Fabletics, ShoeDazzle, JustFab and FabKids. A launch date was not revealed, but TechStyle has been working on the project for over a year. Samples have already been made.

Rihanna is the latest celebrity to work with the company. Kate Hudson was a co-founder for Fabletics, while Kim Kardashian co-founded ShoeDazzle in 2009 with Brian Lee and Robert Shapiro. Kimora Lee Simmons was once president of JustFab before leaving to focus on her KLS line.

The deal with Rihanna is said to be a move to file for an initial public offering. They’ve raised about $300 million so far. The company is based in El Segundo, California and has 1,328 workers worldwide.

Los Angeles investment bank Grief & Co president and CEO Lloyd Grief, who is not affiliated with the company, commented: “They’re of a size now that adding another brand, adding another category, would make sense to round out the product offering. What they want to do is show growth. The key to going public is having a growth track record or having growth in their windshield, not in the rearview mirror of the company so I’m sure the Rihanna brand play would be to convince the market that the company has strong growth ahead because IPOs are all about growth ahead.
