The Rolling Stones Added To 12/12/12 Hurricane Sandy Relief Concert

Billboard reports that The Rolling Stones have been added to the 12-12-12 Concert for Sandy Relief. It was announced at a press conference in New York.

The Stones will already be in the area, as they will perform at the Barclays Center on December 8 and the Prudential Center in New Jersey on December 13 and 15.

The concert takes place at Madison Square Garden on December 12 ans also includes Eric Clapton, Bruce Springsteen, The Who, Paul McCartney, Roger Waters, Kanye West, Dave Grohl, Eddie Vedder, Bon Jovi, Chris Martin of Coldplay and Alicia Keys. It will be broadcast on 40 US TV networks, including CBS and HBO. It will also be live-streamed on services like YouTube, Hulu and Fuse.

The press conference today included concert producers Jim Dolan, Harvey Weinstein, John Sykes and David Saltzman. Proceeds from the concert will go to the Robin Hood Relief Fund, which will give money and materials to those affected by Hurricane Sandy. At least $30 million has been raised for the charity so far. Tickets sold out quickly for the event. There has been several resales on StubHub, with tickets going as high as $60,000 according to the Wall Street Journal. Senator Chuck Schumer (D-NY) sent a letter on Thursday to StubHub, TicketExchange, TicketsNow and TicketLiquidator asking to ban the resale of 12-12-12 tickets.

Saltzman called it “despicable” and told fans to watch at home if they didn’t have tickets. Weinstein said that the show would also have big Hollywood stars including Leonardo DiCaprio, Sean Combs, Billy Crystal, Adam Sandler, Jon Stewart, Susan Sarandon, Brian Williams, Jake Gyllenhaal, Chelsea Clinton and Steve Buscemi.
