TMZ reports that U2 has cancelled a concert tonight in St. Louis due to the violent protests happening in the city. Live Nation and U2 said the St. Louis Police Department said they’re not in “position to provide the standard protection for the audience” as normal. The band did not want to risk the safety of their fans by going on with the show anyway. Fans will get a full refund.

The protests the result of a not guilty verdict for a former police officer that was charged with first degree murder. The officer shot a black motorist after a high speed chase in 2011. Some of protesters burned the US flag and surround the mayor’s home. Ten officers have already been injured and 32 people were arrested.
