Usher’s Accuser Reportedly Changed Story About Him Wearing Condoms In Lawsuit

October 9, 2017 | Posted by Joseph Lee

As we reported last month, the Georgia woman who is accusing Usher of sexual assault was identified as Laura Helm. TMZ reports that Helm reportedly stated that she only had protected sex with Usher, but now in her $20 million lawsuit she claimed that they didn’t, but her lawyer claims she had a reason for lying.

The website revealed a recording from July 19 of Helm speaking to a male friend on the phone, telling him that she didn’t plan to sue Usher after finding out he may have herpes. She said that Usher wrote a condom every time they had sex so she wasn’t worried about it. She said: “That’s why they make protection, for people who have STDs.

Two days later, Helm filed a lawsuit and claimed that Usher didn’t have a condom when they had sex in New Orleans. Her attorney Lisa West said that Helm lied to the main on the phone (her publicist Dennis Byron) was trying to shop around a story to the media about Usher having an affair. West claims that Helm “didn’t want to be exploited and, in her attempt to deter Byron from doing so, she told him (inaccurately) that she never had unprotected sex with Usher and that she did not have herpes.” West also said that she went to law enforcement because Helm thought Byron was extorting her. Helm accused Byron of stalking her, but a judge dismissed it on Friday for lack of evidence.
