Usher Says STD Accuser “Assumed the Risk” of Contraction When They Had Sex

October 9, 2017 | Posted by Jeremy Thomas

Usher said that the woman who has accused him of giving her genital herpes took her chances when having unprotected sex with him. TMZ reports that Usher’s lawyers filed a legal response in which she says she contracted the STD from the singer and that she didn’t assume any risk because he gave her no reason to suspect he had the disease.

The R&B star’s legal response says, “With a one in six chance that any given partner could have genital herpes, [she] assumed the risk of contracting an STD each and every time she chose to have unprotected sex with a casual, consensual partner.”

Laura Helm claimed that she used a condom each time they had sex, but the lawsuit claims that the sex was unprotected on one occasion. Usher is attempting to get the lawsuit dismissed out based on assumption of risk.
