Pete Dunne

We open to highlights from TakeOver: Brooklyn III. Tonight’s show airs from Brooklyn.

No Way Jose is out for a match and gets a giant conga line going. Lars Sullivan jumps him from behind, taking him to the ring and press slamming him into the apron. In the ring, Lars attacks again and plants Jose with a uranage.

Footage airs of the awesome Andrade Almas/Johnny Gargano match from TakeOver. A shaken Gargano was interviewed earlier today about having the #DIY shirt thrown at him. He has no excuses, saying he lost because of himself and not a memory. He owns the loss and must be better.

Next, clips aired of the Ember Moon/Asuka match. Asuka was interviewed about the match and simply said she’s better than Ember. She never thought the title was in jeopardy. They asked a question about NXT and I couldn’t hear if it was about her eventually leaving. She just said she was champion. Her injury was brought up by Mauro and they just said she’ll be back soon.

Pete Dunne and Wolfgang are interviewed about facing Tyler Bate and Trent Seven. Dunne says his title win was the real beginning of the UK brand.  Wolfgang interrupts to say he’s been patiently waiting for a shot at the UK Title and wants a shot if they win. Dunne tells him not to get ahead of himself and focus on tonight.

Peyton Royce w/ Billie Kay vs. Sarah Logan

Commentary plugs Logan being in the Mae Young Classic. They lock up and Logan works a headlock. Peyton counters with a wristlock, escapes a body slam and gets her own headlock. Shoulder block by Peyton and she taunts with Billie. Logna trips her and nails a fireman’s carry, going right to an arm bar. Royce comes back with a big spinning heel kick. Peyton clubs away on Logan in the corner and does one of the most impressive foot chokes you’ll ever see. Peyton delivers a rope hung knee and applies a submission on the ropes. She clubs away at Logan, toying with her. Logan ducks a spin kick and hits a release German suplex. Logan fires off chops and shoulder blocks. A front dropkick gets two. Billie holds Peyton to avoid a Logan suplex. Logan rolls her up for two, Peyton gets her own rollup for two and then wins with a fisherman suplex.

Winner: Peyton Royce in 4:17 [**]

Highlights of Authors of Pain/SAnitY are shown. This is followed by a recap of Bobby Roode vs. Drew McIntyre. Of course, the post-match actions of Adam Cole, Kyle O’Reilly and Bobby Fish are included. McIntyre addresses this next week.

Bobby Roode was interviewed after the match and yelled at an assistant or something to get his stuff. He shouted that he didn’t want to speak to anyone. His debut on Smackdown is shown. Earlier today, he was asked if he’s done in NXT. He says he never leaves behind unfinished business and Roderick Strong is still on his radar. He claims Strong blew him a kiss after he lost to McIntyre.

Aleister Black/HIdeo Itami highlights air. Black was asked about the match afterwards, but quietly walked past all reporters.

WWE United Kingdom Champion Pete Dunne and Wolfgang vs. Trent Seven and Tyler Bate

The pop for Bate was very good, but Dunne got a monster reaction. Dunne and Bate start and go to the mat. Dunne holds a slight advantage as they exchange front face locks. They jockey for position and continue to roll around before stereo kip ups. After a break, Seven gets the tag and slams Dunne. Tag back to Bate, who jumps off the second rope and bounces off Seven with a Meteroa into a splash for two. Dunne gets in a cheap shot on Seven for two. Tag to Wolfgang, but he eats a DDT following some chops. Seven charges into the corner but gets walloped by Wolfgang. Tag to Dunne, who goes after the left arm, manipulating the joints. Dunne stomps on the arm and twists the fingers. My WWE Network decides to crap out on me for a minute or so, making me miss some of the action. I apologize. Seven’s still in danger when I come back, but he’s got Wolfgang down and makes the hot tag. Dunne comes in at the same time and Bate carries him like nothing before dumping him on his head. Dunne lands on his feet on a German attempt. Bate does his head rebound spot on the ropes and hits a lariat. Airplane spin time. Wolfgang breaks up the pin but gets a back hand from Seven. Dunne takes him out with a forearm and Bate gets him with bop and bang. Enziguri by Dunne and rolling kick by Bate. Wolfgang blind tags in as Bate hits the Tyler Driver ’97. Wolfgang instantly comes off the top with a swanton on Bate to score the win.

Winners: Pete Dunne and Wolfgang in 7:30ish [***1/4]
