411’s WWE Table for 3 Report: Shield Reunion

-Original air date: 10/30/17

-A new episode of Table for 3 dropped tonight after RAW and that means I have something to cover once again. Speaking of which, next week ESPN 30 for 30 film about Ric Flair debuts and I will have that covered as well. That should be an amazing piece of work and I am excited for it.

-Back to this show as Table for 3 has returned after a brief hiatus. There was to be a show featuring Flair, but it didn’t get released. The reason being is that Flair had has health scare just before the episode was to air, and WWE decided to hold off on it.

-As mentioned this is all 3 members of The Shield reuniting for the first time on camera since their split (this was filmed prior to their on screen reunion). Dean and Seth are dressed casual in a shirt while Reigns is sporting a suit from the John Cena collection it seems. The food comes out early and they laugh at Ambrose for having ordered potato chips and he jokes 90% of his diet is potato chips. Ambrose talks about his love for sandwiches and he is a fan of breakfast sandwiches. Dean tells the story of his happy bowl sandwich as it seems Seth has never heard about it. Even I heard him tell this story before on some previous show. This show clocks it at under 20 minutes, and the first 4 minutes have been about food.

-Now we get into their first run and Ambrose says the first few months were very tense. Ambrose then stops the story as beer arrives which makes him happy. They cut to a video package of the trio in their early days in the WWE and they were just amazing as a group during that run. Ambrose said the fans connected because it was real to all 3 of them as it was a way for them to kick the door down. They know there were some guys who didn’t make it easy on them, but they had the numbers and did what they needed to get noticed.

-Reigns jokes that a lot of times he had no clue what they were talking about and just let Dean ramble while he would just hit people. Ambrose agrees and says those early promos just sucked as they all had to go on was making sure they talked about justice. Reigns wishes he was watching Game of Thrones back then as he would have something better to say. Rollins talks about the swat gear and how they made it look cooler than what others had done outside of the The Boss Man. They rag on the turtle necks they wore the first night and were happy they decided to change.

-Ambrose talks about how they hit the ground running as a group and then destroyed The Outlaws at Mania and the war with Evolution. He says they were redlining and then just exploded which leads to Rollins turning on the group. They show the turn and Rollins says he felt so alone at first because he was used to them being there. He forgot what it was like to be a singles wrestler and how to cut a promo alone for 10 minutes. Ambrose says he always tried to plant seeds that he was the asshole of the group and when he was the one that didn’t turn he had to make sure the fans still liked him. Rollins jokes about how he didn’t know if he needed to go back to trunks or what he should do. They then discuss tanning and show off chest hair as I don’t know where this is going.

-Rollins brings up how they are unique as a group as all 3 had success after the split. The cover Roman winning The Rumble, Seth and Dean winning MITB, and all the titles they have won. Ambrose talks about how when you have 3 big egos it usually doesn’t work, but their personalities all vibed so they worked well together. They all agree that it was easy to work together. They put over Joey Mercury as being the silent member of The Shield. He gave each of them advice and told them they had to stick together as a group until they were on their own. Reigns says they leaned on each other and now everyone leans on them like Vince and Hunter told them would happen.

-Rollins wants to know when it will happen as he would love to have those 6 man matches again. They are different guys now, but they all agree it would be great. Dean says they are 3 Beyonces and they toast to that as we are done with this episode.

-That was rather disappointing as we didn’t get a lot from this. It was basically a 20 minute conversation between three great friends which is fine, but makes for a show lacking on anything significant. Reigns was rather quiet as Ambrose carried things (which isn’t shocking) for the most part. You could see they enjoyed catching up and telling some stories, but again nothing must see here.
