Ace Austin Comments On Josh Alexander Giving Up Impact World Title Due To Injury

In an interview with WrestlingNews.co (via Fightful), Ace Austin spoke about Josh Alexander being forced to give up the Impact World title due to injury. Alexander suffered a triceps tear, which ended his reign at 348 days.
Austin said: “I think somebody like Josh Alexander knows, more than others, the fragility of the human body. He came back from that nasty neck injury early in his career to have such an incredible career now, so you know, somebody like him definitely understands that and look, I have to admit… I can’t say that I don’t have respect for Josh Alexander. There’s no way that I can’t respect somebody that has worked so hard as he is, but, you know, he’s also on the other side of that competition wall. It was definitely saddening because he took the X-Division title from me. Rewind to a while ago, I was this close to becoming the youngest world champion in IMPACT Wrestling history and I didn’t quite get there. When he got the World Championship, it just became farther and farther from my grasp. To see it go down like that, it just doesn’t feel right. He works so hard and somebody has to beat him for it the right way, somebody has to take it the right way. He’ll be back, and there’s no doubt that it’s all gonna come full circle. I could not imagine working as hard as I did to become the youngest world champion, and then somebody like him coming back from a career ending injury to become the longest reigning world champion, I can’t imagine having to just let it go.“
