AEW Reportedly Ends Soft Roster Split for Dynamite & Collision
– It looks like AEW’s soft roster split between AEW Dynamite and Collision is over. During today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer reported that the soft brand split between two shows is now over, and talents will now work or appear on both shows.
Beforehand, it appeared that the soft brand split was a way to keep The Elite and CM Punk away from each other on separate shows. So the brand split was kept to the wrestlers who didn’t want to work with Punk, and the ones who were good with working with Punk on Collision. With AEW opting to fire CM Punk “with cause” last week, the soft roster split is now “all gone,” and now all the stars could “theoretically” appear on both shows if need be.
During last Sunday’s post-show media scrum for AEW All Out 2023, Tony Khan indicated that working Collision every week might be a better fit for Danielson’s schedule as a parent with two young children. This alluded to Danielson being more of a fixture on Collision now that CM Punk is gone from the company following his recent firing.
This update appears to support earlier information from Fightful Select that Warner Bros. Discovery and AEW spoke last week about the direction of Collision and ending the soft brand split that was previously in place. It was also noted by Fightful that Danielson would be an integral part of the Collision program moving forward.
