AJ Styles’ WWE Contract Will Reportedly Expire in 2019
– The Wrestling Observer (via Sportskeeda) recently noted that the contract for WWE world heavyweight champion, AJ Styles, is currently slated to expire in early 2019. Styles also recently talked about in a recent interview with 97.9 The Box in Houston, and Styles hinted at possibly retiring in a “couple years.”
Styles turned 40 last June. If he plans on possibly retiring at 42 years of age, his next contract expiration would likely occur before he turns 42 in June of 2019. However, Meltzer also noted in his Observer report that aside from rare cases such as Shawn Michaels, wrestlers will not typically just walk away from a prime spot in the WWE like that. The suggestion is that AJ Styles could pull back to a smaller role with the company with a lighter schedule. However, Styles could always change his mind and decide to keep his career going longer if he wants.
