As previously reported, WWE Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan made an appearance at last Monday’s WWE Raw on Netflix debut at the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California. Hogan promoted the new partnership with WWE and his Real American Beer brand that was announced earlier this week. However, Hogan was treated to a chorus of boos from the Los Angeles crowd, and which was widely reported by major outlets, including Variety, The Hollywood Reporter, and CNN. The segment was also parodied with a skit the following day on The Pat McAfee Show. Fightful Select has more details on Hogan’s eventful appearance.

According to Fightful’s report, many WWE sources were unhappy that the negative reception to Hulk Hogan was a common talking point that emerged from such an important show for WWE. Additionally, multiple WWE sources reportedly brought up the possibility that Hogan would get booed during his segment.

Hogan’s segment was reportedly limited to only a couple of minutes due to his physical condition. It’s said that Hogan was “surprised and disappointed” he was booed by the fans, but he brushed it off backstage. Many fans online suggested that Hogan should’ve come out as the nWo Hollywood Hogan version to lean into any negative fan reception. However, a WWE source informed Fightful, “That certainly wouldn’t have been the original plan. We’re trying to sell beer, not get a 70 year old over any way we can.”

Also, the anonymous source believed that WWE would likely consider the context with how Hogan is used in WWE moving forward, since many apparently knew the negative reaction would be a possibility. Despite, the negative reaction, WWE is not expected to end its partnership with Hogan’s Real American Beer label. One anonymous WWE source told Fightful that they mentioned the idea of using a more modern WWE talent or legend to help endorse the product later.

As previously noted, ahead of Raw, it was stated that WWE was discussing future TV appearances for Hogan. He also appeared in a recent TV add promoting the next edition of WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event, which is scheduled for later this month on NBC and Peacock.
