Hi, hello & welcome to the column nobody in the world of wrestling wants to be in, Botched! It’s been a busy week all across the wrestling world. We got some NWA, RevPro, and the usual WWE-related shenanigans. Let’s get to it…

1. Sloppy Finish To A Great Build: The National Wrestling Alliance has done a lot to make itself relevant again since its purchase by one William Patrick Corgan. They’ve been building up their champion Tim Storm & he had a title defense against Nick Aldis over the weekend at a Championship Wrestling from Hollywood television taping. It was a very well-told story. Great stories don’t always translate in the ring, and this one had a bit of hiccups along the way. We highlight the ending of the match.

One of the sloppier rollup sequences you’ll see from two veterans, which happens when dudes are worn out. It didn’t ruin the match, and the story can progress the same way it would have on a regular old rollup. Not really the kind of finish you want to see in an NWA Worlds Heavyweight Championship match. But, I have to admit that the NWA’s making some tremendous progress. A year ago nobody knew who the champion was. (It was still Tim Storm.)

2. Joey Janela kills a dude: I typically try to stick to current events in this column, but I’ll make an exception here since it’s only 13 days old & it became a thing online this week. Joey Janela took on Ryan Smile at RevPro Live At The Cockpit on November 5th & did a fairly typical indy wrestling move. Death valley drivers & pretty much any move on the apron have become pretty commonplace over the past few years. Janela applied a DVD on the apron, and let’s just say the results didn’t look too good.

Not a lot of protection there. Apparently Smile wasn’t killed or anything like that, so that’s good. Janela has had a career year in 2017 & does as much as anybody on the indies to promote himself. One botched move isn’t going to permanently sour most people on him, but he needs to tighten things up a bit.

3. Stephanie mixes Kurt & Shane up: Our buddy Mike from Moorhead chimes in with another submission. Remember, you can send your submissions, thoughts & opinions to [email protected]. It’s a bit spam-infested these days, but I usually find the important ones. I think.

During raw’s opening promo, after Kurt said he was going to break Shane’s ankle, Steph responds by calling her brother “Kurt”. Methinks Steph got a little flustered being in the ring with her old crush.

You know how hard it was to find an audio clip of this? I don’t expect this one to last long either, because God forbid Stephanie McMahon screw something up. So here it is while it’s still up.

I mean, when you have 10 minutes of dialogue every week you’re bound to mess something up here and there.

4. A fan tries to join The Shield: Fan interaction is great at the right moments. But when the moment doesn’t call for it, fans need to know their role. Like this fella that tried to make himself part of the Shield’s entrance on Monday night’s Raw.

You can see the dude making a bit of a scene when the Shield are walking towards the staircase. Maybe he wanted to go to his seat & was mad that he couldn’t? If that’s the case, it’s his own fault for not scheduling his bathroom break better.

5. The 205 Live Cake Mystery: Tuesday was Kalisto’s birthday, so he celebrated by beating up Drew Gulak. There was a cake at ringside because anytime a wrestler has a birthday there should be cake at ringside. Kalisto eventually got the win and Enzo had to run to the back afterwards to avoid further punishment from Kalisto.

Enzo then did an interview with Dasha Fuentes, during which the cake reappeared backstage. He was fed the cake by an enraged Kalisto.

The question on everybody’s mind: How did that cake get backstage so quickly? Obviously the answer is that there were two cakes, but why would Kalisto have two birthday cakes? And if he did, why would they look the same? If I was going to have multiple birthday cakes I would prefer to have different styles of cake. Two of the same would just be boring, am I right?

It should be noted that there was a blue rose on the cake. Those who have seen Twin Peaks know that a blue rose indicates something supernatural, as blue roses are not found in nature. Perhaps there’s more to Kalisto & his birthday cakes than meet the eye?

Probably not, but it wouldn’t hurt the quality of 205 Live to go down that path.
