Botched! 12.2.17: Asuka Lock, Sami’s Chair Shots, More

Asuka Survivor Series

Hi, hello & welcome to the column nobody in the world of wrestling wants to be in, Botched! It’s been an interesting week for me, as my computer’s hard drive botched for the final time & I had to get a replacement. At least it was good timing since Cyber Monday was going strong and I got a good deal on a laptop. All’s well that ends well. Some of these things didn’t end well though…

1. No More Burning Things Down?: Roman Reigns opened the show with a promo and got to say hi to his Shield buddy Seth Rollins afterwards. Something was a little off about Seth’s entrance though…

The BURN IT DOWN that’s become a key part of Rollins’s song recently was nowhere to be heard. It originally became a thing because Vince McMahon decided he didn’t like the dead air in the middle of Rollins’ entrance music. I happen to agree, so its absence this week was notable. Did Vince change his mind again? Time will tell.

2. Asuka Lock? : You wouldn’t have thought there was enough time for a botch during the Asuka vs. Dana Brooke match on Monday Night’s Raw episode. Michael Cole proved that theory wrong.

It was a cool submission move, no doubt. But it wasn’t the Asuka Lock. Dana can tell you that much, as she’s well familiar with the Asuka Lock.

I assume this leads to Michael Cole calling everything the Asuka Lock.

3. Jinder Nearly Dis-Arms a Singh Brother : Former WWE Champion Jinder Mahal was less than pleased with the Singh Brothers’ efforts against current WWE Champion AJ Styles on SmackDown Live. So he decided to beat them up afterwards. Which is cool, but let’s be honest, his finishing move has a 50% success rate at best. Sometimes it’s ok, sometimes it looks like poop, and sometimes, like the second one he did on Tuesday night, he nearly breaks a dude’s arm.

Man, if he treats his friends like that I don’t wanna get on his bad side. Jinder Mahal, if you are reading this, you are a gentleman & a scholar.

4. Sami Zayn Needs More Chair Reps: On the opposite end of the spectrum of Jinder trying to break a Singh’s arm, we had Sami Zayn’s attempt at interference during Kevin Owens’ No Disqualification Match with Randy Orton. Sami was banned from ringside but was still able to attack Orton when the match ventured towards the entrance way. No problem with that. What we do have a problem with is Sami’s attempts at interference.

I mean, did Sami go to Lance Storm’s wrestling school to learn how to swing a chair? There’s an art to it…you don’t want to kill the guy you’re hitting, but at the same time you can’t go out there like you’re my grandma trying to keep order at Thanksgiving dinner. I would suggest doing some online research before trying again.

5. Enzo Amore has never sounded better : I think most of us will agree that Enzo Amore’s promos are more effective now that we’re not supposed to like him. I also think most of us will agree that he never sounded better than during his entrance on 205 Live this week.

Don’t you just hate it when microphones don’t work? Why, it would be such a shame if that happened to Enzo every week from here on out. Such a shame.
