Botched! 9.16.17: Matt Hardy Fails Against the Ropes, Kofi vs. Barricade, More
Hi, hello & welcome to the column that nobody in pro wrestling wants to be in, Botched! Before we even start, I’m pretty sure that Kevin Owens’ headbutt wasn’t a botch. You know Vince told him to lay it in or else. Here are five other things that raised some eyebrows!
1. Booker is Confused
Poor Booker T. Sometimes he just loses track of what he’s saying like I usually do on any of my podcasts. Check him out at 1:55 of this video of the Sasha Banks vs. Emma match on Raw.

Booker, I’ve been there with ya! Us tongue-tied talkers gotta stick together.
2. Steps = OK
John Cena & Braun Strowman decided to have a match on Monday night against football. I don’t know if it was the smartest idea, but it’s what they did. I’m also not sure if it was the smartest idea by Braun to get himself disqualified, but it’s what he did. I’m also not sure why the referee allowed this to go on…
…but it’s what he did. I guess we’re using the logic Tony Schiavone used at SummerSlam 1989 where things aren’t a disqualification when they happen outside of the ring. To which, much like Jesse Ventura, I would exclaim that somebody might as well use a gun since they’ll be outside the ring.
3. Matt Doesn’t Break Up The Pin
Dean Ambrose was almost finished off by Sheamus & Cesaro, so Matt Hardy had to get in there and make the save. The ropes had different ideas.

Corey Graves with a heck of a save though, saying that the referee probably stopped counting because he saw Matt coming. Which is bad officiating on his part, but what the heck.
4. Kofi Gets Introduced To The Barricade
It was a Sin City Street Fight for the SmackDown Tag Team Championship, so you knew Kofi Kingston was going to let it all hang out. He did the ol’ Aerostar trust fall onto the Usos, but the Usos caught him and it was a bad time.

Not the best landing there. We didn’t see Kofi for awhile after that but eventually he was ok enough to help New Day get the win.
5. Rich Swann’s Wild Ride
TJP & Rich Swann have had quite the rivalry going on 205 Live lately. It’s not getting a lot of press because it’s on 205 Live, but they’ve had a series of matches that may or may not have culminated on Tuesday night. Probably not. Rich Swann got the duke, but he also got dropped on his head at the 6:35 mark.
Those back suplexes can be risky business, man. I feel like they went a lot better back in the day when everybody moved slower & was less athletic.
