Botched!: Nia Jax’s Elbow Drop, Shinsuke Nakamura’s Suplex, More

Hi, hello and welcome to the column nobody in pro wrestling wants to be part of, Botched! There were some very notable missteps this week that we’ll be sure to talk about, along with a couple that didn’t really hurt anything. Let’s get right to it.

1. Michael Cole Has No Idea Who Bayley Is Wrestling

We all mix people up from time to time. I try not to get on the announcers too much for it, but sometimes it boggles the mind. Like 2:40 into this video.

I get that Nia Jax is friends with Alexa Bliss and they’ve both wrestled Bayley a lot lately, but they’re still pretty easy to tell apart.

2. Nia Jax Elbow Drops The Mat

Speaking of Bayley vs. Nia Jax, the match ended up going poorly for Bayley as she injured her shoulder and may end up missing Summerslam. Bayley’s obvious pain lled to an interesting botch at 8:30 in this video.

The interesting part is that Bayley was already sitting up when Nia decided to drop the elbow right behind her. She really wanted to get that move in, I suppose.

3. Maria & Maria

Props to Caleb Dumbface & Maffew’s Twitter feed for this one. I figure eventually he’ll block me and I’ll actually have to keep track of WWE social media fails on my own. This one featuring the two behind the Power of Love was pretty interesting.

You know, it’s bad enough that Mike took Maria’s last name. Taking her first name too is way too damn much.

4. Nakamura Kills Cena

This was one of the big stories of the week. Not a huge deal in the grand scheme of things, as John Cena is in fact a Transformer and you can’t break his neck or anything like that. 2:45 in the video shows the dangerous suplex delivered by Shinsuke Nakamura…

It was all right though. Shinsuke can see John Cena, but he can’t hurt him.

5. Dante Fox Takes A Header

I’m usually a bit behind on my Lucha Underground viewing, and LU does a pretty good job of keeping their stuff off of YouTube, so they won’t appear in the column very often. I did notice something a little crazy during the match pitting Prince Puma against Dante Fox, as Fox decided to use the “dart myself into the mat” selling technique. Cubsfan provides the GIF here…

Just like Cena/Nakamura though, no harm no foul. And it was a really awesome match too, so if Season 3 ever ends and these gentlemen’s contracts expire, they’ll have plenty of suitors.
