Botched!: Sasha’s Malfunction, Bryan Uses the Rope, More

Hi, hello & welcome to Botched! It’s been another busy week in the world of wrestling, and as one would expect: not everything went perfectly! That’s what we’re here to talk about. I think if there’s one thing we’ve established in 99 editions of this column, it’s that everybody makes botches. This week features some of WWE’s biggest names, who are mortal just like us.

1. Sasha shows some…

I noticed while watching Raw’s main event on Monday night that there were a few seconds where the screen went black. Considering it was a tag team match pitting Sasha Banks & Bayley against Natalya & Ronda Rousey, it was a pretty safe guess that a wardrobe malfunction took place.

It was also a pretty safe guess that somebody would find footage & post it online. As it turns out, Sasha’s tights were a little too loose & they went down during an attempted powerbomb by Natalya.

I mean, these things happen all the time, but you’d think somebody married to the person making their wrestling outfits wouldn’t have such issues.

2. Bryan will use anything as a weapon

We’ve seen ring ropes break pretty often in the course of this column. It happens everywhere, even in WWE. What I find interesting in these situations is what the wrestlers do. Do they just stand there with their mouth open, or do they just go with it?

Somebody like Daniel Bryan just goes with it. The rope broke during a house show match with Bryan & AJ Styles, and next thing you know, Bryan’s just whipping the bejeezus out of the guy.

3. Early ending?

The Lucha House Party made short work out of Jinder Mahal & the Singh Brothers on Monday’s edition of Raw. It looks like it was supposed to be a little bit longer.

2:09 into the video is where Gran Metalik hits a backbreaker on Singh & goes for the cover. It doesn’t feel like something that would typically result in a three count, but Singh’s brother doesn’t make the save in time & the referee keeps counting because that’s what he’s been trained to do. If the wrestlers can’t do their stuff in time, too bad. Michael Cole didn’t think it was the finish either, but that’s the way it goes.

Oh, and if you want to see a whiff on a kick go to 1:42.

4. To be fair, Bobby’s pretty big.

Apollo Crews wanted some of Bobby Lashley on Monday’s edition of Raw, which makes sense as Lashley is the Intercontinental Champion. The match itself was kinda there, with one moment that stood out as tremendously awkward.

Apollo’s a strong guy, no doubt about it. But pressing a big dude like Lashley over your head could take a couple of attempts.

5. Even Rey & Andrade make mistakes

Everybody loves watching Rey Mysterio taking on Andrade, right? Two out of three falls on Tuesday night made for some good quality wrestling. Not everything went perfectly, even if the encounter got plenty of snowflakes from critics. Our boy Daniel found a little something to highlight here:

Nice save by Rey, not wasting any time & working Andrade into a pinning combination so they could move on to the next thing.
