– According to this week’s edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, there’s a backstage update on the latest contract Braun Strowman signed to stay with WWE. Previously, Strowman announced on his social media account that he re-upped with WWE for four more years.

Per the Observer Newsletter, Strowman’s latest four-year deal is said to be worth $1.2 million per year. While there are exceptions, it’s stated that WWE usually only offers contracts as high as $1 million a year for a top downside guarantee. The Observer reports that one exception is AJ Styles, who announced in March 2019 that he signed a new WWE deal. Styles reportedly signed for “significantly more” $1 million a year when his deal was nearly up due to the presence of All Elite Wrestling (AEW).

Additionally, there are said to be other Superstars who were able to negotiate better deals over the usual $1 million threshold with the promotion because they both knew how to negotiate, and WWE knew the wrestlers had leverage that they could go elsewhere and make significant money.

Also, the Observer notes that Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson of The OC, who reportedly signed new five-year contracts “with a significant raise” in July, signed five-year contracts that are worth $700,000 per year each. Previously, they turned down $500,000 a year offers and were rumored to be leaving WWE when their contracts were up. However, they ultimately signed new WWE deals later in the year.

Basically, if the numbers are accurate, WWE has been opening up the coffers to offer above their usual threshold to keep certain wrestling talents under contract. And Braun Strowman is the latest Superstar to reap those financial benefits.
