In the latest edition of The Agenda Podcast (via SportsKeeda), former WWE writer Tom Cassiello revealed that it was Charlotte’s idea to use her dead brother Reid in a promo with Paige in 2015 on RAW before Survivor Series. It was Paige that brought Reid up in the segment, which got negative backlash from WWE fans. Reid passed away in 2013 after an overdose. Charlotte has said she pushed herself to be a WWE star since Reid wasn’t able to, as his death hit her and her father Ric Flair very hard.

Cassiello, who worked for WWE until December, spoke about various aspects of the Women’s Revolution and this promo was brought up. He said it was Charlotte’s idea, who thought it would make the promo have more of an impact. He added that Charlotte was not bullied into the idea at all. At the time, Paige took a lot of criticism for using it and there were reports that Ric Flair had no idea it was going to happen. Now that seems like it wasn’t the case.
