– While speaking to the Ringsiders Wrestling show, Clark Connors discussed the recently announced NJPW World TV Title. The tournament to crown a new champion kicks off this month. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):

Clark Connors on the TV title being made for him: “I think that title is made for me. Just how it looks, I love it. I love bling. You see me normally when I’m walking around the streets, I’m always iced up with something. I want to carry that around with me. I would be proud to carry that through an airport. In terms of the actual match structure, 15-minutes, I’ve said so many times. Don’t get me wrong, (Kazuchika) Okada, Jay (White), (Will) Ospreay, all these guys, they do their 30-minute barnburners, Wrestle Kingdom goes 35 minutes, G1 whatever the f***. That’s great and all, I could do it if I wanted to, but I think a good 15-minute, go-hard match is some of the best wrestling to me. It fits a flow better, there is not as much…it’s not a lot of filler. For me, that’s what I want to do, especially in small towns and the newer and younger talent. It kind has my name written all over it. I’m going to throw my hat in the ring when I get back over there.”

On his current goal: “I always say, my goal is to be the Brock Lesnar of the junior division, throw people around, get stuff done. Goldberg, (Bobby) Lashley, all these guys who are hard hitters. They wrestle these short matches, but they don’t need to…they beat someone’s ass and get it done as quickly as possible. Defending them in the small towns is going to be a good way to elevate main event. I want to bring it back to the States too and defend it on STRONG and the shows here. That would be a great opportunity.”

The first NJPW TV Champion will be crowned at Wrestle Kingdom 17 in January 2023. Unfortunately for Clark Connors, he will not be in the tournament to crown the inaugural champion as he’s currently out and nursing a herniated disc injury.
