Rain vs. Brandi Rhodes: I am happy to see Rain back in action; I was a big fan of her in SHIMMER, and even in TNA, although the run there wasn’t al that great. She faces the extremely inexperienced Brandi here. They lock up and work some back and forth, Brandi lays in leg kicks and knees, the dropkick follows. The X-factor gets 2. Rain powder to the floor. Rain then pulls Brandi to the floor, and then rolls her back in and takes the heat, tossing Brandi around; the cover gets 2. Rain follows with a suplex for 2. She follows with elbow strikes, and the cravat cutter gets 2. A basement dropkick connects, and Rain covers for 2 again. Rain sets Brandi up top, follows but Brandi fights her off and tosses her to the mat. Brandi sorta hits a head scissors. Rain now lays in rights, but Brandi follows with chops and a clothesline. Brandi to the second rope and hits a dropkick, covering for 2. Brandi now works a full nelson clutch, but Rain makes the ropes. A sloppy exchange follows and the Raindrop finishes things. Rain defeated Brandi Rhodes @ 6:20 via pin [*] I think that Brandi is training with Mandy Leon, while I get that she’s experienced, all of he stiff is in slow motion. Her strikes are poor, her transition work is sloppy and she has bad foot work and what makes it worse is the fact that commentary spent the whole time putting over he r hard work ethic and how much she’s improved. She really hasn’t.
Alexxis (Alisha Edwards) vs. Jewells Malone: This is my first time seeing Malone. Malone attacks with knees and strikes, but Alexxis levels her with a lariat. Corner forearms follow and then the corner splash. Alexxis lays in forearms, and hits a leg lariat for 2. Alexxis lays in chops, and then a sidekick but as she climbs the ropes, Malone pulls her off and lays in clubbing strikes. Malone hits a slam, covering for 2. The dragon sleeper follows, but Alexxis escapes and looks for an octopus, but Malone hits a back breaker, covering for 2. Malone lays in kicks and works the Japanese strangle hold. She then stomps Alexxis down, covering for 2. The corner clothesline follows, but Alexxis hits elbows and a boot. The rolling forearm follows, and Alexxis hit a code breaker, covering for 2. Malone now hits a TKO, but Alexxis kicks out at 2. Off the ropes, but Alexxis locks in a guillotine and hits a DDT and that’s that. Alexxis defeated Jewells Malone @ 5:08 via pin [**] This was ok overall, they kept a good pace and made good use of the time given to them. There was also a stark contract in the level of aggression here as opposed to the previous match.
Tessa Blanchard vs. Indi Hartwell: This is my first time seeing Hartwell. They lockup, Hartwell avoids strikes and then hits a flapjack, covering for 2. They trade forearms as Tessa takes control and chokes Hartwell out in the ropes. The dropkick follows and then another as Hartwell lays in the ropes. Tessa follows with clubbing blows and yells at the crowd, and then whips Hartwell to the buckles. More forearms follow, Hartwell to the ropes but gets cut off right away, hits a code breaker, covering for 2. Hartwell fires up a bit, and hits a desperation neck breaker, covering for 2. Tessa about kills her with a forearm, takes her to the corner and misses a charge, posting herself. Hartwell hits a sunset flip for 2, and then a running knee for 2. Hartwell misses a springboard, they work counters and Tessa hits a cutter. She heads up top and hits the MX (code breaker) off the ropes for the win. Tessa Blanchard defeated Indi Hartwell @ 4:25 via pin [**¾]
This was pretty good, especially considering that they didn’t get a lot of time. Tessa looked good and gave Hartwell a good amount, allowing her to be competitive before taking the win.
– End scene.
– Thanks for reading.
