Deonna Purrazzo vs. Sumie Sakai: They lock up and Purrazzo looks to ground the action to begin. They work some nice back and forth on the ground, Sakai back to the feet and hits a head scissors and then rolls into a Boston crab. Purrazzo makes the ropes and then gets a bit pissed and starts working the arm. Purrazzo takes her to the ropes and continues to attack the arm, showing more aggression than usual, bending but not really breaking the rules. Sakai tries to fire up, but Purrazzo immediately cuts her off and continues to work the arm. They trade strikes, bicycle kick by Purrazzo but Sakai hits a PELE and we get a double down. Sakai gets a roll up and dropkick, follows with a fisherman’s neck breaker and heads up top. The missile dropkick hits for 2. Purrazzo cuts off another neck breaker, counters out and into the arm bar but Sakai makes the ropes. Purrazzo now hits rolling suplexes, but Sakai hits a fisherman’s buster, which gets 2. Sakai sets Purrazzo up top, but Purrazzo slips out but Sakai just stomps on her. Purrazzo cuts her odd with a German, locks in the arm bar and Sakai has to tap. Deonna Purrazzo defeated Sumie Sakai @ 8:20 via submission [***] This was an overall good match, with Purrazzo showing more of a vicious edge ahead of her battle with Karen Q and Sakai working harder than usual.

Shayna Baszler vs. Penelope Ford: Ford attacks before the bell, looking to get the early advantage. The high cross follows, but Baszler has had enough of that bullshit and hits gut wrench suplexes, and then grounds Ford and works the ankle. Baszler then bends Ford in half, and makes her touch her own head with her foot. Baszler is just destroying the leg here, almost trying to rip it off at times. Ford’s flexibility allows for a lot of diverse and fun torture spots here from Baszler. Baszler has great focus and that “I don’t give a fuck” about my victim vibe, which I love. Ford fires up with slaps and strikes, but this only pisses off Baszler, who lays her out with strikes. Baszler suplexes Ford into a choke, but Ford makes the ropes. The ankle lock follows, and Baszler picks up the easy win. Shayna Baszler defeated Penelope Ford @ 6:03 via submission [***] This was a good, clean and effective squash that made Baszler look like a complete bad ass. Ford got in a few hope spots, but there was no doubt that this was all about Baszler.
