Champions Eli Drake & Scott Steiner vs. DJZ & Everett: Everett and Drake to begin and Everett picks up the pace ad hits a dropkick. DJZ in and they work double teams. DJZ takes control until Steiner cuts him off with a cheap shot. Steiner tags in and lays in chops to DJZ. The belly-to-belly follows for 2. Drake tags back in and continues the heat on DJZ. DJZ looks for a high cross, gets caught, and slammed to the buckles. Steiner back in for some double teams, and then lays in chops and sets DJZ up top. Steiner follows him up and hits the Samoan drop of the ropes. DJZ fights back and hits the DDT. Wholesale changes to Drake & Everett, Everett runs wild and hits an enziguri and missile dropkick. He takes out Steiner and hits a PELE to Drake. DJZ in and they take out Steiner. They hit a code breaker/code red combo on Drake for 2. Drake battles back as Steiner gets dumped to the floor. He gets a chair and accidentally hits Drake; Everett gets the standing shooting star press for the win. DJZ & Everett defeated Champions Eli Drake & Scott Steiner @ 6:25 via pin to become the new champions! [**¾] This was a pretty good tag match, and I love the title change. They smartly kept it short and limited Steiner. DJZ & Everett are a fresh team, both guys needed to be used better, and they bring some fresh life to the tag division, which needed it. The only complaint is that Steiner should have taken the pin. Now that Drake is free from the tag titles, it will be interesting to see if they can heat him up again for a run at the world title or of he just treads water.

– DJZ & Everett comment on their tag title win, and are very excited about it.

– Madison Rayne joins Josh Mathews. She’ll be doing commentary for the upcoming Knockouts match.

Tessa Blanchard vs. Kiera Hogan: Hogan attacks at the bell, taking control. She follows with corner attacks, running wild on Blanchard. She lays the boots to her. Blanchard cuts her off with a hot shot off the ropes and then talks trash while laying the boots to her. Blanchard follows with a draping flatliner, and talks more shit. She follows with knee strikes and a dropkick; the cover gets 2. Blanchard keeps yelling and Hogan fires up and lays in strikes. She follows with running elbow strikes and covers for 2. Hogan follows with a leg drop for 2. She lays in mounted strikes, but Blanchard quickly cuts her off with a cutter. The hammerlock DDT finishes it. Tessa Blanchard defeated Kiera Hogan @ 4:05 via pin [**¼] This was an OK little match, with Hogan showing good fire, and Blanchard picking up her first win and setting up a feud with Rayne.

– Post match, Blanchard attacks and Rayne arrives to make the save, running Blanchard off.

– Matthews comments on the recent backstage attacks. Grado confronts Jacobs & Kong, accusing them of attacking Joe Park. Jacobs denies it and threatens an ass kicking. Katarina says Grado will fight Kong anytime or place. Jacobs accepts.

– We get a video package on the Sami vs. Eddie feud.

– Pentagon cuts a promo on tonight’s tag team main event, and is joined by Fantasma. They plan to beat Sydal & Aries.

Kongo Kong vs. Grado: Jacobs & Katarina are at ringside. Grado speed walks away from Kong, and then attacks. Kong quickly cuts him off and lays in strikes. Grado slowly fires back, but Kong cuts him off and hits a belly to belly for 2. Kong misses a corner splash, lays in rights and jabs, but Kong won’t go down. More jabs follow and then elbows. Grado up top and hits a shoulder tackle, and Kong is down, but pops back up. The slam and top rope splash finishes Grado. Kongo Kong defeated Grado @ 3:25 via pin [*] This was a boring and bland outing, as neither do nothing for me at all in the ring. It only existed s a backdrop to further the Moose vs. Kong angle, which while appreciated, also does little to interest me.

– Katarina bails on Grado, as Kong kicks the shit out of Grado and sets up the steps to take him out like they did to Johnny Impact. Moose arrives to make the save and to continue their feud. They brawl, Jacobs distracts Moose allowing Kong to cut him off and takes him back into the ring. Moose fights back and dumps Kong.

– LAX walks and discuss their issues. Lee & Konley arrive and talks shit to them.

Street Fight: Sami Callihan vs. Eddie Edwards: This is from House of Hardcore, as the angle is that Edwards cannot get his revenge in Impact Wrestling. Edwards attacked during his entrance and ran wild, beating down Sami on the floor. Sami fought back, but Edwards fired back with a suicide dive. This leads to more floor brawling, and Sami using a pipe to attack Edwards. Sami tries to use a spike, but Edwards gouges at the eyes. The fight goes to the ramp, and Sami hits a DVD on the ramp. Back to the ring and onto the apron and Edwards cuts him off, hitting him with a can of beer and following with a DDT. Back in and Edwards gets the pipe and Sami has one as well and they sword fight with the pipes. Edwards finally catches him with a few shots and Sami is down. Edwards has control, but opts to get a kendo stick. I mean, I would have stayed with the pipe. He lays in kendo shots on Sami, so Sami spits at him and follows with a low blow. The shoulder breaker follows for 2. Sami sets up some chairs and as he set for a powerbomb, Edwards low blows him. Sami manages to fire up and does the deal with a falcon arrow onto he chairs. Sami gets the bat, but Edwards hits the Boston knee party to pick up the win. Eddie Edwards defeated Sami Callihan @ 10:30 via pin [***] This was a good street fight, with nice intensity, and Eddie picking up a small measure of revenge, but the fight is far from over judging from the post match attack. The feud has been interesting, I am curious to see how they play it out, I expect an “unsanctioned match” at Slammiversary.

– Eddie beats down Sami post match, because he’s not done with him just yet.

– Next up is Cage heading to Canada to kick Façade’s ass as the next stop of the Cage world tour. I have enjoyed these segments, they couldn’t get Cage in for the last tapings, and these keep him on TV, looking good, and set him up nicely for when he returns. They made the best of a bad situation.

– KM meets with Fallah Bahh and tells Bahh he’s lost a ton of weight, and then takes him for a makeover; hilarity ensues. Kiera Hogan ends up looking smitten with Bahh.

Rosemary’s Funeral: Su Yung and the undead brides take Rosemary’s coffin to a cemetery and Yung spits fire onto it, setting it on fire. Well that’ll be one hell of a comeback.

Austin Aries & Matt Sydal vs. Pentagon & Fantasma: Sydal & Pentagon start us off. They work some back and forth, and then separate, as Sydal looks frustrated. Sydal now grounds things, but Fantasma gets back to his feet and Sydal lays in some kicks. Fantasma hits a RANA and they work into a stand off. Aries and Pentagon tag in and go face to face. Aries will have none of this bullshit and they get right to work. The pickup the pace as Pentagon cuts him off with a kick, Pentagon threatens to break the arm, but Aries powders. Post break, and pentagon dropkicks Aries to he floor. He follows with an apron superkick and Fantasma hits a rough looking suicide dive (catching his feet on the ropes) onto Sydal. They all brawl on the floor as the lucha work over Sydal with chops. Back in and they isolate Aries. Sydal in and they dump him to he floor and focus on Aries. Pentagon then missile dropkicks Aries in his ass as Fantasma held him down. Back to work on Sydal now, and they hit a double team code breaker on him. Sydal finally cuts them off, and picks up a near fall before sending Pentagon to the floor. Aries tags back in and hits a senton elbow strike for 2. Aries works over Fantasma, Sydal tags in and they double-team Fantasma in the corner. Fantasma fires up and fights off the heels, but Sydal quickly cuts that off and tags in Aries. Aries flies in with the double sledge, but Sydal then accidentally knees Aries and Fantasma gets the tag to Pentagon. He runs wild, hits sling blade and back stabber, covering for 2. Sydal then flies in with meteora on Fantasma, but Pentagon takes him out. Pentagon cuts of the Aries suicide dive, and Sydal hits a cutter on Fantasma. Fantasma battles back, heads up top and Sydal hits a RANA to send him back to the mat. Sydal’s shooting star press is met with a Pentagon superkick; Fantasma hits thrill of the kill for the win. Pentagon & Fantasma defeated Austin Aries & Matt Sydal @ 19:05 via pin [***¼] They worked a good and fun main event, but more importantly than just the wrestling, which delivered, they did a good job of hyping the title matches coming in the next two weeks, which was the major goal of the match.

Set for next week

* X-Division Champion Matt Sydal vs. Fantasma
* LAX vs. Cult of Lee
* oVe vs. Drago & Aerostar
* Kongo Kong vs. Moose

In two weeks at Under Pressure

* Impact World Champion Pentagon Austin Aries
* Knockouts Champion Allie vs. Su Yung
* Madison Rayne vs. Tessa Blanchard

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

Tonight’s episode of Impact Wrestling was a really solid episode. It started off well with a needed tag title change, followed by the return of Madison Rayne (needed especially with Rosemary out due to injury) to feud with Tessa Blanchard. It stalled a bit with the Kong/Grado/Moose stuff but rebounded well with the street fight and main event. They also did a good job of setting up the main matches for the next two weeks, which is always appreciated.
