Csonka’s MLW Fusion (Intimidation Games) Review 3.02.19

– The Lucha Bros defeated Team AAA @ 13:25 via pin [***¾]
MLW Title Steel Cage Match: Champion Tom Lawlor defeated Low Ki @ 15:01 via pin [***¼]

– Follow all of my reviews at this link.

– Jim Cornette has joined MLW. Cornette is working behind the scenes for the promotion, as he started as an agent for them today. He’s also doing commentary.

The Lucha Bros. (Pentagon Jr. & Rey Fenix) vs. Team AAA (Laredo Kid & Taurus): They wasted no time as things immediately broke down and all four unloaded with a flurry of offense. This was followed by a series of dives and Fenix stating into the camera that he was the fucking man. The crowd was hot and loving this as there were no lulls in the action. Team AAA was putting up a good fight, but the Lucha Bros turned things around and took control as we took a break. Post break, Taurus made a big comeback including a run up moonsault on Pentagon. Kid & Fenix then brawled, lighting each other up with chops. It broke down, with Kid hitting a stacked 450 for a good near fall. The Lucha Bros made the comeback, scoring with double teams and finishing Kid with the double stomp/package piledriver combo. The Lucha Bros defeated Team AAA @ 13:25 via pin [***¾] This was a very good and tremendously fun lucha styled sprint, and a hell of a way to kick off the show.

– The Hart Foundation says they will use Freebird rules to defend the tag titles.

– They hype the April 5th Battle Riot II event.

– MJF & Richard Holiday want a tag title shot.

– Salina de la Renta says Low Ki will be winning the title back tonight for her.

Champion Tom Lawlor vs. Low Ki: Ki attacks at the bell, taking the fight to Lawlor right away. Ki grounds the action, but Lawlor tosses him into the cage and follows with ground and pound. Lawlor pummels Ki in the ropes and follows with a reverse XPLODER. Ki is able to fight off the choke and sends Lawlor to the cage. This allows Ki to take control, working kicks. Lawlor fires up but gets sent to the cage again. Ki stomps away at him, maintaining control and grounding things again. Lawlor fires back with a flurry of strikes and a suplex, but is slow to follow up. Ki follows with a double stomp for a near fall. Lawlor keeps fighting off the Ki krusher, looks for a choke, but transitions to an ankle lock. Lawlor steals a roll of quarters from Ki and levels him with them. Lawlor looks to climb to escape, Ki follows him up and climbs over him. Lawlor falls into a tree of WHOA but shakes the cage and crotches Ki. Lawlor follows him up and they battle on top of the cage, trading strikes, they climb over and keep trading as Lawlor gets stuck. Lawlor escapes and they trade chops and kicks. They continue to battle for position, and fall to the floor with Lawlor hitting first to retain. Champion Tom Lawlor defeated Low Ki @ 15:01 via pin [***¼] This was an overall good main event with good agression, but fell short of being great.

– After the match, Jacob Fatu, Simon Gotch, and Josef Samael attack Lawlor. They beat him down, Fatu hits a superfly splash from the top of the cage, and Gotch reveals a “CONTRA” flag, putting it on Lawlor, we have a new stable. Good post match angle.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.
