– Follow all of my reviews at this link.
– I wrote a column looking at the possible candidates for Goldust’s newest masterpiece at this link.
– I also did a Q&A over the weekend, which you can read at this link.
– Here are my takeaways from the NJPW G1 Climax.
– And here I ranked the NJPW G1 Climax matches from worst to first.

Asuka & Ember Moon Contract Signing: William Regal will host the contract signing, and introduces the ladies. I absolutely love how Asuka carries herself as the confident and badass champion. Moon says Asuka has had an epic journey in NXT and has been one of WWE’s best champions. This leads to the crowd cheering for Asuka. Moon then points out that she’s the only one Asuka has taken shortcuts with. Moons says that she is better than ever, and to thank Asuka for making her better, she will end Asuka’s reign and her undefeated streak. Moon signs the contract, and so does Asuka. Regal makes it official. Asuka rants in Japanese, and she’s fired the fuck up. The two face off to close the segment. This was fine, and while I really like Ember Moon, I just don’t feel that she’s the one or that it’s the time to beat Asuka. But they eventually have to move on, so we’ll see how it plays out.

– Regal meets with Lars Sullivan, and requests that he not kill his latest tag team partner. Lars promises to be good this time; he’s a polite young giant. He promises not to beat on his opponent in the ring.

The Street Profits (Ford and Dawkins) vs. Chris Silvio and Lars Sullivan: Lars wants to start things off, but Silvio runs into action. Lars tries to enhance his calm as the Profits control and celebrate; double teams follow. Silvio tries to battle back, but gets cut off. Ford decides not to mess with Lars, and the sky high and frog splash finish Silvio. The Street Profits defeated Chris Silvio and Lars Sullivan @ 1:40

The Street Profits go to 2-0 on NXT TV. Their action has been limited thus far, but they have been a ton of fun and I can’t wait to see more of them. Lars playing a giant Cactus Jack and murdering his partners after they lose is also entertaining. I am interested to see more of him.

– Lars carries the beaten carcass of Silvio out of the building, beats on him and tosses him into a trash bin outside.

Ruby Riot vs. Billy Kay w/Peyton Royce: This was set up last week when Riot “interrupted” the duo’s makeup tutorial. Kay plays keep away and poses to begin. She makes fun of Riot, Royce goes for the distraction but Riot goes for a series of pinning combinations and Kay gets pissed. Kay finally connects with a kick and clothesline, covering for 2. She lays the boots to Riot in the corner, but Riot fights back with forearms but Kay hits eat defeat for 2. Kay follows with a suplex and then works the arm. Riot escapes, lays in leg kicks and follows with a dropkick. Riot follows with double knees to the corner, takes out Royce but Kay cuts her off. Riot hits a fall away kick and covers for the win. Ruby Riot defeated Billy Kay @ 4:10 via pin [*] The duo continues to be nothing more than a delay for others in the division before they move up the card. Riot picks up a win in some momentum in a match that was just there, and had no drama. If it had to be short, Riot should have gone over in a more dominant fashion.

– Royce runs down Riot post match, and says Riot will never be iconic.

– Commentary runs down the Takeover: Back to Brooklyn for the third time card.

– We get an AOP vs. Sanity video package.

Roderick Strong vs. Drew McIntyre: If Strong wins, he gets an NXT title shot post Takeover. They work some basic back and forth, Strong picks up the pace and takes Drew down with a kick. Strong then looked for a float over, but Drew kicks him and then hits a dump suplex. Strong battles back, hits dropkicks and sends Drew to the floor. They battle on the floor, and Drew posts Strong to cut off his attack. They work to the apron, and Strong hits a desperation enziguri and then an apron back breaker. Post break, and Strong is in control, breaking down Drew and focusing his attack on the back to set up for the wide variety of back breakers he likes to use. Strong lays the boots to Drew, just beating him down. Strong now works the camel clutch, thusly humbling Drew. Drew manages to escape and hits a big lariat and then an overhead belly to belly. He continues to attack with forearm strikes, Drew up top and hits the double sledge. Strong fights out of the future shock, but Drew hits the reverse Alabama slam for a near fall. Drew sets for the claymore, but Strong cuts him off with a knee strike and back breaker for a near fall. Strong up top, Drew cuts him off with a head butt and follows him up. Strong knocks him into the tree of WHOA, but Drew fights back and Bobby Roode hit the ring and attacks Strong before kicking the shit out of Drew ahead of their Takeover clash. He then tosses Strong to the steps, before laying out Drew with a glorious DDT. Roderick Strong defeated Drew McIntyre @ 9:00 via pin [**¾] The match was pretty good overall, and felt as if they were about to kick it up and head into the homestretch just as Roode ran in. The attack is a catch 22 for Roode, he got to inflict damage on Drew, but if he retains, he’ll have t contend with Strong challenging for the title again. I’m not sure it’s time to end Roode’s title run, as I think we can get some mileage out of these three battling over the title.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

The final score: review Not So Good

While I liked the closing segment, this didn’t feel like a strong go home show for “NXT’s WrestleMania.” But one thing I’ve learned; don’t bet against Takeover to deliver.
