Six-Man Tag ROH Honor Reunited

WELCOME back to column time with Larry! Today, I am going to discuss and preview tonight’s ROH Honor Re-United: Edinburgh event. This is one of the many ROH events that will be steaming live on the Honor Club service this year. Feel free to make your picks in the comment section. Thanks for reading! It’s wrestling, we love it and will disagree. The only rules are “have a take, be respectful, and don’t be a dick.” This show will feature the first round of the “ROH International Cup,” with the winner being crowned on day two and receiving a ROH Title shot on day three.

Viper & Tenille Dashwood vs. Kay Lee Ray & Chardonnay: The women of honor will be in action in a tag match on this show, and in all honesty, it looks like a strong match on paper. Tenille Dashwood is over and has been extremely consistent, Chardonnay did well on the last ROH UK shows she worked, and Viper and KLR are both great. The main goal of the match will be setting up Chardonnay vs. Dashwood for the Doncaster show. Based on overall star power, it feels like Viper & Tenille should win. But I think that Chardonnay & KLR pick up the win to give Chardonnay momentum into her match. This should be good. WINNER: Viper & Tenille Dashwood

ROH International Cup Match: Jonathan Gresham vs. Mark Haskins: This is the first international cup match, and while I like Haskins and he’s been good on past ROH UK shows, I was really hoping for Doug Williams to come in just to work with Gresham, because I think that would be awesome. Anyway, I think this will be a good match, worked heavily around Gresham’s grappling and submission style. Gresham has been really great this year, but ROH sees him as a quality utility player and nothing more, which is a shame. I’d love to see him win and get some run here and give us another rematch with Lethal as they have had some great matches this year. Unfortunately, I think he’s just here to give Haskins a good to great match, which I am sure he will. WINNER: Mark Haskins

ROH International Cup Match: Flip Gordon vs. Kip Sabian: Sabian is a UK highflier, trained by the Knight (Paige’s) family, starting back in 2010. He works all around the various UK promotions and is getting his first ROH shot on this tour. Matching Sabian with Flip seems like a natural pairing, as it will give us a fast-paced fliers match, and a nice change of pace for the card. This feels like a match to give Sabian a tryout of sorts and to see if he can impress, but this tournament feels like an opportunity to give Flip a brief taste of glory before coming up short once again. Plus I figure two ROH guys move on & two UK guys move on. WINNER: Flip Gordon

ROH International Cup Match: Joe Hendry vs. Adam Page: Hendry previously appeared for ROH and is currently working with Impact Wrestling. Page is coming off of his first NJPW G1 tour. Page is really having a great 2018, the best year of his career so far, showing great improvement, and having some great matches. Unless they plan to pull a big surprise, this feels like Page’s match to win and get back on track in terms of ROH booking. Hendry should be fun here and make sure that the crowd is into it, but Page should move on. WINNER: Adam Page

ROH International Cup Match: Jimmy Havoc vs. Christopher Daniels: Daniels is here as the ROH veteran presence, while Havoc is the big UK star on the card. Havoc is a PROGRESS regular and has been on US TV with MLW. With Havoc’s tendency to like wild brawls and Daniels’ ability to adapt and work with anyone, this should be quite good. Daniels feels like he’s here to have a good match, and because he’s a strong name to put over the UK star. WINNER: Jimmy Havoc

PROVING GROUND MATCH: ROH Champion Jay Lethal vs. Adam Brooks: If the challenger (Adam Brooks in this case) wins the match, they are entitled to a title shot against the champion. Brooks is an Australian wrestler, working since 2010. He’s been working the UK scene extensively in 2018. Like Sabian, he is getting his first ROH shot on this tour. With Lethal just winning the title, and this basically being a tryout for Brooks, I highly doubt he picks up the non-title win here. If Lethal had been champion longer and was facing a bigger star I could see it, but not here. So this will be Brooks’ chance to impress and a test for Lethal to see if he can lead a match and produce a compelling enough story to make fans buy into a possible Brooks win. Hopefully, he can do that and Brooks can deliver here. WINNER: Jay Lethal

The Young Bucks & Marty Scurll vs. The Briscoes & Punishment Martinez: The Young Bucks & Adam Page battled The Briscoes & Punishment Martinez on ROH TV on the road to BITW and it was an absolute banger. I expect more of the same here and figure that this will be the main event, and it should be. The Bucks & Marty Scurll will be over HUGE here, and traditionally, the Bucks have been the highlights of these Honor Club shows. The Bucks and Briscoes work extremely well together and Martinez thrives in these multi-man tags, especially when things get chaotic. Hopefully, this breaks down into the usual Young Bucks crazy main event style match, because they do it extremely well and there is a ton of talent here to deliver a great match. This should be great. WINNERS: The Young Bucks & Marty Scurll
