OFFICIAL RESULTS
2 out of 3 Falls ROH Title Match: Champion Cody defeated Christopher Daniels @ 23:00 via pin (2-0) [***]

– You can watch this episode for free at this link.

Promo/Hype Video Time: We get highlights and pre-taped, including Cody mocking Daniels for taking so long to win the ROH Title, transitioning into him calling him a classy professional wrestler, while he is more of a sports entertainer who was close to the brass ring who had felt many losses. He feels the fire, and is ready to let the world burn and ROH was there along the way. He claims that he is a business mover, and that his PPV win was the biggest buyrate in ROH history. The old ideas, the fear of Cody being a free agent scares the old ROH, while all he’s doing is moving them forward. Now he defends in a 2 out of 3 falls match, and they don’t think he can do it a second time let alone twice in one night. ROH is stuck in mediocrity and mediocrity loves company, but he’s here to change it all. (This was all pre-taped/sitdown interview.)

Now we go to “controversial footage” that ROH had banned from ROH TV, featuring Daniels and Kazarian. (This is in the ring) Kazarian started off, discussing his hard fought victory at the PPV. He felt great until Daniels lost the title, but wasn’t upset with Daniels, he was upset that the fans turned on Daniels and chanted Daniels sucks; all the fat guys in Bullet Club. But one day after Daniels won the ROJ title, grown fat men made lines to congratulate Daniels and praise him as the man that made ROH. But you were just a bunch of marks, but now it’s out with the old and time to play with the new toys. Daniels then said things change in pro wrestling on a dime, and it all went from “thank you Daniels” but that all left and turned to “Daniels sucks” and “Cody”. You guys didn’t give a shit when he was Stardust you jerks. Cody doesn’t even love this company enough to sign a contract, but he signed a new two-year deal but nobody treated about that. He then calls the fans bandwagon jumping pussies. When he wins the title he will go to Joe Koff, and ask for his release and will then travel the world defending the title for everyone but ROH. This was a really great way to open the show, Cody is so very good in the pre-taped/sitdown setting as he really comes off as an evil genius that did everything he wanted and got everything he wanted. He pacing, verbiage and everything was just excellent. The Daniels and Kazarian turn was also well done, and really makes sense. I do wish that they would have hyped up the “controversial footage” angle a bit more, but this was a great heel turn promo from the man that started day one with ROH, turned from the bad side, embraced the fan support and not only won the title for them, but did so to complete hi journey only to be tossed aside by the cool new toy in Cody.

– Silas & The Bruiser are back in the ring with his “so many days since Lethal has been on ROH TV” sign, Lethal is still injured and not coming back. Silas is very proud of The Bruiser and all he’s accomplished lately. They gloat in spectacular heel fashion, with Silas telling Lethal to stay home. But that won’t be happening, as Lethal returns and kicks the shit out of both with chair shots and attacking the ribs of Young. Security arrives but Lethal knocks one of them out and allows the other the chance to leave, well he did but then superkicked him. Lethal then laid out Young with the lethal injection, and then picks up Young’s sign and writes a “0” on it since he’s back.

2 out of 3 Falls ROH Title Match: Champion Cody vs. Christopher Daniels: Daniels stalls to begin as the crowd is pro-Cody. After a few minutes of stalling, they finally engage, with both going for quick pins and Cody teasing the figure four. They work into some back and forth, with Cody taking control and Daniels powdering to the floor. Daniels argues with a kid who is chanting for Cody. Post break and Daniels refuses to break clean, and lands a right to finally take control. They work to the floor, and Cody fires back and teases a dive fore eye poking Daniels. Daniels quickly starts to target the injured shoulder of Cody (injured at the PPV) and that leads to the ref and security guys (helping Cody pop his shoulder back in). Daniels takes the heat back in the ring, but Cody hits the desperation kick to know Daniels to the floor. Back in and Daniels cuts off a springboard and Cody falls back to the floor. Post break and Daniels maintains control hitting the Arabian press for 2. Daniels now heads up top but Cody fires up, runs up the ropes and gets a super arm drag, He follows with clotheslines and a powerslam for 2. Cody then locks in the figure four; Daniels fights and jut makes the ropes. Daniels avoids the rainmaker, and then we get a ref bump. Both guys use low blows for the double down. Kazarian arrives and slides a chair in the ring. Marty Scurll arrives and takes out Kazarian. Cody rolls up Daniels and picks up the first fall @ 15:00. Post pin, Daniels attacks Cody with the chair and technically it’s legal because the ref never rang the bell for fall 2. Post break, Daniels works over Cody on the floor, and he has complete control and they tease a Cody countout. Cody just barely beats the count and has dirty words for the fans. Cody fires up, they work back and forth but Daniels cuts things off again, this time hitting a flatliner. Cody fires up with the jabs, and a little flip, flop and fly. The elbow off the ropes follows for a near fall. Daniels counters cross Rhodes and then he hits cross Rhodes for 2. Daniels now calls for angel’s wings, but Cody counters out, they do a double bridge spot and Daniels hits Angel’s wings for 2 and then takes time to yell at the ref. Daniels hits the slam, goes for the BME but Coy stops that and rolls him up. Daniels hits the slam again, misses the BME and Cody hits cross Rhodes and picks up the win and retains the title. Champion Cody defeated Christopher Daniels @ 23:00 via pin (2-0) [***] I loved the break in formula in terms of giving Cody a 2-0 sweep, as it rarely happens in the stipulation because so many feel you have to give the other guy a win to look strong. This was all about kicking Cody’s run off in a big way and furthering the fall of Daniels. The match was good, and technically sound but it just lacked in the drama department; there was no roller coaster ride, no ebbs and flows. Just a good match with a strong 2–0 victory for Cody

– End scene.

The final score: review Good
The 411
I greatly enjoyed the break in format this week, presenting the ROH title match like a special event by giving it the entire focus of the show, The Cody sitdown interview was really great, I just wish the match could have delivered something more than special, because I can see “good” anytime.
