– We get an opening video, featuring Broken Matt Hardy reading King Maxel the story of the GREAT WAR.

X-Division Title Match: Champion DJ Z vs. Trevor Lee: They locked up and worked a nice back and forth beginning, as soon as DJ Z started to gain an advantage, Lee took a powder. Once he returned, he got more aggressive and was starting to beat down DJ Z, but ate a dropkick to stop that. Hey went back and forth again, DJ Z hit the lucha arm drag and sent Lee to the apron. The dropkick sent Lee to the floor, back in Lee used the ref as a shield and then sent DJ Z to the floor. The PK from the apron followed, allowing Lee to take control once they got back in the ring. Lee choked out DJ Z in the ropes, and then hit a big boot as DJ Z charged in. DJ Z would score with the flapjack, DJ Z up top now and cut off. They battled for position and DJ Z hit the RANA off the ropes. DJ Z fired up and made his comeback, hit the back handspring elbow and Lee bailed to the floor. DJ Z then hit the big dive, he sent Lee back in and then Lee followed with a suicide dive. Not to be outdone, DJ Z the hit the step up dive for the double down on the floor. Back in the ring, Lee hit the moonsault slam for the near fall. Lee went for the dead lift German, countered and DJ Z scored with the reverse RANA. They worked a series of counters, and Lee hit the dead lift German for the near fall. DJ Z countered God’s last gift, and then the ZDT was countered by the running double stomp for the near fall. Lee argued with the ref, went back after DJ Z, who hit a destroyer into the ZDT and that was that. Champion DJ Z defeated Trevor Lee @ 11:08 via pin [***½]. That was a very good match to kick off the show. They have worked together before and know each other well, so the chemistry was there and it felt as if both guys had a great sense of urgency to put the other away. The beginning was a bit slow, but the homestretch was great.

– We see Lashley and EC3 arriving earlier today.

– Drew Galloway is interviewed about being pulled from tonight’s show. He could have been out for a year but he was lucky. He came to TNA and succeeded, he wanted to fight tonight but was said to be a liability. He chose to fight, but Corgan refused to allow it. He asked that the title match be held off, and he was refused. Corgan is only buying TNA for him, and he will not recognize whoever wins the title as champion.

Bound for Gold Gauntlet #1 Contender’s Match: Confirmed Participants: Eli Drake, Braxton Sutter, Basille Baraka, Mahabali Sera, Grado, Tyrus, Jessie Godderz, Robbie E, Baron Dax and Rockstar Spud. Jessie and Spud to begin. Jessie controlled early until Spud hit a low blow. Sutter was #3 so that he and Spud could continue their rivalry. Sutter ran wild on Spud and then he and Jessie worked together to try and toss Spud. Spud raked their eyes, tried to fire up and ran into them and fell down. They worked over Spud and Eli Drake was #4. Drake was almost tossed right away and then got beat down. Drake then countered the attack of Sutter and eliminated him. #5 was Robbie E. He got to run wild on Spud and Drake, hit the boom drop on Spud and then he and Jessie hit the BroDown on spud. Robbie tried to toss Jessie, they battled and Drake and Spud took the chance to attack. #6 is Dax. He worked with Spud and Drake to beat down the BroMans. #7 was Grado. They did the Bushwacker elimination on him, his music kept playing and he danced to the back. The BroMans started to work together, and #8 was Baraka .The BroMans and Tribunal battled as Spud held onto the bottom rope like Road Dogg in the Royal Rumble. Robbie e and Baraka brawled on the apron and eliminated each other. #9 was Tyrus. Jessie also eliminated Dax off camera. Tyrus walked to the ring and tossed around Jessie and Drake as Spud kept holding onto the ropes. He then hugged Tyrus and tried to work with him, Tyrus gave him the thumbs down and tossed him. #10 is Shera. He did the big man stand off with Tyrus, and then Tyrus attacked. Everyone brawled and Drake tossed Shera. Jessie tried to toss Drake, but he hung upside down with his feet under the ropes. Tyrus slammed Jessie down, tried to eliminate him but Jessie hit a springboard forearm and then a dropkick. Jessie, who was limping a lot and seemingly legit hurt himself, tried to dump Tyrus, but Drake sneaked in and tossed them both out to win. Winner: Eli Drake @ 15:20 []. That was a rough match with not much flow, a lot of stuff just happened, but at least the right guy of the bunch won. It was way better than last year’s horrible attempt at the match.

– Jeremy Borash interviews Robert Irvine about Gail Kim’s hall of fame induction. As he praised Kim, Maria and Mike Bennett arrived and tried to get rid of him. Irvine said that it would be a bad night for the two of them. Maria promised to prove how great she was tonight, and Bennett praised her and also said that he was the best. He said he would take out Moose by himself.

– We get a bunch of West Orange high school football players out to be part of Moose’s entrance

Moose vs. Mike Bennett: Bennett made Moose chase him early, and then attacked when Moose tried to get back into the ring. Moose cut him off with the dropkick, and sent Bennett to the floor. Moose teased a dive, but Bennett stopped that and sent him to the floor and hit a dive of his own. They brawled on the floor, Moose then caught Bennett and tossed him into the post. Moose tried to follow up, but was backdropped onto the steps. Back in and Bennett took the heat, working chop and strikes while mocking the Moose chant. Moose fired up, but Bennett dropkicked his knee and then started to work it over. Bennett kept his focus on the knee, but Moose suplexed him into the corner. Moose hit a series of head butts, and then started to run around like there had been no work at all done to his knee. He hit a powerbomb and running senton for the near fall. Moose then hit the clothesline for another near fall. Bennett tried to fight back, and then cut off Moose with a tornado DDT and a piledriver for 2 and no reaction. They traded strikes center cage, Moose hit his jabs and then cut off the cutter but ate a superkick, Bicycle kick by Moose, and he went for the run up the ropes high cross and sort of jumped into a cutter for a near fall. Moose fought off the miracle in progress, and then hit the sky high. The game changer followed and Moose won. Moose defeated Mike Bennett @ 10:10 via pin [**¼]. This was a serviceable but very average match. There was no real reaction to the near falls, Moose completely dropped the selling of the knee and it just felt there to me. It wasn’t bad, but they did nothing to really pull me into the match and make me care. Moose does some great athletic things and the build was good, but this simply existed. This was a big chance for both guys to prove that they should be taken seriously as top guys and they failed at that.

– Borash interviewed Aron Rex about the grand Championship match. He praised Edwards but said he will give all he has to become the first grand Champion. The promo was given with the enthusiasm of someone getting as root canal.

TNA Grand Championship Tournament Finals: Aron Rex vs. Eddie Edwards: The rounds for the title match are five-minutes long instead of three. They did a lot of back and froth basics here, Edwards finally hit a dropkick and then worked him over with chops. Rex was able to stop that, but ate a series of kicks and a RANA from Edwards. Rex made the comeback with a Russian leg sweep and some elbows, but Edwards hit an enziguri and Rex took a very delayed bump, which looked odd. Rex did cut off the suicide dive try, but got sent back to the floor and Edwards hit the slingshot plancha. Edwards sent him to the floor again, went for the suicide dive and caught more guardrail than Rex. Back in and Edwards hit the missile dropkick for a near fall. The round ended with Edwards in control. ROUND 1 (30-27 Edwards) Rex took control right away in round two, trying to beat down Edwards, but Edwards quickly fought back and laid in chops to Rex. Rex finally attacked the knee of Edwards, and as that happened the lights went out and the fans chanted, “PAY THE LIGHT BILL” They threw some spotlights on the ring so we could see some stuff, Edwards made a comeback and the lights coming back on got the biggest pop of the night. Rex then worked possibly the worst sharpshooter variation I have ever seen, and then got a cover for 2. Rex controlled as the round ended. ROUND 2 (30-27) Rex That was some Cecil People’s level judging there, clearly a 10-8 for Rex. The final round started and Rex went on the attack right away, and this is feeling pretty lifeless with Rex in control. Edwards fired back and then hit a code breaker off the ropes for the near fall. Edwards headed up top, Rex cut him off but then got sent to the mat. Edwards jumped off, which hurt his knee and Rex hit a neck breaker for 2. Edwards countered a neck breaker but hit an enziguri in the corner. he and Rex fought up top, Edwards shoved off and Rex ht a rolling neck breaker for 2. Edwards escaped the sleeper into the blue thunder bomb for 2, and no one cares on these near falls. Edwards then missed a moonsault from the top, Rex went for his revelator but Edwards hit a lariat. Edwards hit the knee strike and both men were down. They traded strikes as the round ended. Aron Rex defeated Eddie Edwards via split decision to become the TNA Grand Champion [**]. I have been a big fan of the concept and trying something new, but this match was completely lifeless and did not capture the attention of the crowd. Edwards is great and worked hard, but Rex continues to be a miss for TNA. He doesn’t fit in these style matches, he has appeared to be unmotivated and just isn’t clicking. This felt way longer than it actually was and didn’t need to go to a decision, if you want to put the guy over, just put him over and do it clean. Also, they need to mix up how people are winning these matches to really add to the different vibe of these matches. It was not bad, just there.

– Rex put over Edwards and said he would give him a title shot at any time. Rex says they made history tonight and teased more for later.

Gail Kim’s Hall of Fame Induction: Christy Hemme was out for Gail Kim’s hall of fame induction, Hemme praised Kim as a legend and as the one who fought for the division. Taryn Terrell (who is pregnant) was also introduced. She said that Kim makes careers, and gave her a career that she could be proud of. Awesome Kong was then introduced. She said that Kim was awesome and made everyone she was in the ring better. She is proud of her, and says that Kim is respected and deserves this. Dixie Carter then arrived, and says that Kim defended the Knockouts division. She said Kim was beautiful, athletic and selfless and then introduced Kim. Kim got a big, “Thank you Gail & you deserve it” chants, as Dixie said she defined a revolution and made the Knockouts the greatest division of all time. We then got he big video package. It was a really nice video package. Kim joked about not being known for her talking, and said she had some notes so that she didn’t make mistakes; this was everything to her. Kim said she faced a lot of highs and lows, but will never change anything. Everything happens for a reason, and she couldn’t appreciate the highs without the lows. Kim said that the business is tough, but that it gave her so much that she can never forget it. She thanks the wrestlers, agents and everyone that ever helped her (Trish, Jazz, Victory, Molly Holly, Finlay & Jarrett got shout outs). It was really great stuff, she was clearly emotional but was able to hold it together. She gave an extra shout to Molly Holly, saying that she is the reason that she got into the business and also taught her to be a good person. This was very well done, and honestly was the best thing on the show so far.

– Reby is out in a red gown to play piano for the entrance of the Hardys. Brother Nero then sang OBSOLETE!

TNA Tag Team Title GREAT WAR: Champions The Decay (Crazzy Steve and Abyss) w/Rosemary vs. Broken Matt Hardy and Brother Nero w/Broken Reby: I have no clue what to expect here, and I dig that. Decay all misted Reby at the start and the war was underway. They paired off with Matt and Steve battling in the ring, and Nero and Abyss brawling on the floor. Rosemary got a table for Steve and set it up on the floor. She and Steve double-teamed matt, but Matt fought them off. Rosemary tossed a trashcan to Steve, he beat down Matt and then rosemary did a version of the coast-to-coast dropkick into the trashcan, which was held in front of Matt. Abyss and Jeff in the ring and Abyss had a staple gun and used it to counter a sunset flip. Everyone spilled to ringside for the big brawl, also falls apparently count anywhere. It was implied, but made official when Steve covered Matt on the floor. Abyss and Matt brawled backstage, Abyss took out the ref as the brawl continued. Steve and Nero also battled in a different part of the backstage area, with Steve tossing ladders onto Nero. We then went to outside of Universal Studios, where Matt and Abyss were now fighting. Steve then grabbed a bin that says, “Lake of Reincarnation,” and dumped it on Nero, who disappeared. Pumpkins they started to fly at Steve. They’re cutting back and forth between these pre-taped segments a lot, Nero then appeared as some other persona, attacking Steve as we see Matt and Abyss fighting in the streets. Rosemary made the save for Steve, and then had a pumpkin put on her head. She misted Nero, and Steve demanded that Rosemary aid Abyss. Abyss tried to choke the life out of Matt, Rosemary arrived and gave Abyss Janice. The guy that Decay sodimized in the Delete or Decay video arrived and Rosemary kicked his ass. Willow then appeared and beat on Steve as Matt has fire in his hands and lit Janice on fire. They then fought in the back of a moving truck as Rosemary drove, and Vanguard1 arrived. He fought off Rosemary as Willow got a near fall on Steve. Back in the Impact Zone and we see Willow and Steve brawl back to the ring. Willow grabbed a giant ladder, Steve cut him off and hit a cannonball to Willow and then Willow disappeared. Back to Abyss and Matt brawling outside and back into the Impact Zone. Abyss hit a suplex onto the ramp as Nero reappeared and attacked Steve. Abyss got thumbtacks, but Matt and Nero hit poetry in motion and a twist of fate. Swanton by Nero and that got a near fall. Steve and Abyss fought back, and Abyss got barbed wire boards. Low blow by Matt, he poured tacks on the barbed wire board and ht the side effect on Abyss onto the board. He then put the other board on Abyss, hit an elbow drop off the ropes and Rosemary made the save. Reby made the save and powerbombed Rosemary off the apron through the table as payback from Impact. Nero wrapped a chair around Steve’s head and posted him, and then tossed a chair to Matt. Matt then hit a twist of fate with a chair around Steve’s head. He set up a table and then another. Matt then said that Nero can indulge in his spot monkey addiction and Steve was placed on the tables and Nero climbed as Matt yelled delete. Nero then hit the swanton and killed Steve, the Broken Hardys win the titles. The Broken Hardys defeated Champions The Decay @ 22:27 via pin to become the new tag team champions [****]. While the pre-tapes in the middle took a bit out of it for me, this was quite the insane spectacle. I think that it delivered on everything most expected it to, the crowd went crazy for the finish and I think that it hit all of the notes it needed to. Some people will love it and some will hate it, like all of the Hardy stuff as of late, but I think that they more than delivered an extremely entertaining match that played to the stipulation and what they had been building to.

– Borash interviews Lashley. Lashley said he’s the realest dude in the company and will leave with the title.

– Pre-match Maria tried to claim that her hand was still injured and that she wasn’t cleared. Allie then said she had good news, and that the doctor said she could wrestle tonight. Maria ran her down and refused to wrestle. Maria then slapped Kim and ran.

Knockouts Title Match: Champion Maria w/Allie vs. Gail Kim: Maria used Allie as a distraction and attacked Kim, slamming her head to the mat. Maria slammed Kim to the buckles and worked a bland heat. Kim kept trying to fire up, but Maria would cut her off. She eventually missed a corner charge, and then Kim missed one and Maria hit a spinebuster for 2. Mike Bennett arrived and Maria grabbed her brace as Kim fought off Bennett. Maria hit Kim with the brace, but Kim kicked out at 2. Allie had the brace and Maria demanded it. She threw it in, over Maria’s head and Kim got it. Kim teased giving it to Maria, tossed it aside and attacked. She hit a series of clotheslines, and then locked in the figure four on the post. The ref broke it up, Kim then flipped off Maria and hit eat defeat and won the title. Gail Kim defeated Champion Maria @ 5:20 via pin [DUD]. This went just as I expected, interference and very bad pro wrestling. Maria is just so limited and they couldn’t do anything resembling a decent match here, and not even the smoke and mirrors could help. Also Kim as champion, again, feels like a step back. The hall of fame deal is great and all, but the division has been held hostage by Kim and Maria and that still seems to be the case.

– Post match the crowd chanted for Allie. Bennett got on the mic and said that this was not how tonight was supposed to go down. Bennett says TNA has been trying to screw him and now he will turn the tables. He told Maria to shake it off and will shut down the show because no one can stop him. Cody and Brandi then made their debuts in gear. Bennett and Maria talked shit and Maria slapped Brandi, who basically messed up the spot, her only one. We got a big brawl between the four. Cody hit the disaster kick and ran them off. That was a debut.

TNA World Title No Holds Barred Match: Champion Lashley vs. EC3: EC3 is in his all white super babyface gear tonight. During Borash’s announcement, Lashley speared EC3 out of the ring! The ref checked on EC3, who demanded that he “ring the fucking bell!” Lashley then proceeded to kick the shit out of EC3, focusing on the ribs that had previously been injured. EC3 slowly started to fight back, and sent Lashley to the floor. EC3 hit a suicide dive to Lashley, which was bend over, that could have went very badly there. EC3 continued the attack on the floor, working over Lashley with chops and slamming him to the steps. Lashley then hit the spinebuster onto the ramp and took control back. Lashley worked over EC3 on the floor for a while before returning back to the ring. Lashley hit the corner spear as he worked a slow heat segment. EC3 hit a dropkick to cut him off, the corner splash followed and then an XPLODER connected. EC3 followed with some knee strikes, but then Lashley hit a spear for the near fall. Lashley worked the torture rack, but EC3 countered into a guillotine. Lashley powered him up and hit an overhead suplex. Lashley tried to work the arm bar, but EC3 hit the short one-armed powerbomb for the near fall. Lashley countered the one percenter into the running powerslam for another near fall. Lashley then grabbed the TNA title, misses the shot and EC3 hit the TKO for the double down. They got to their feet, traded strikes center ring and EC3 hit a snap German suplex. EC3 then hit a spear for a near fall, Lashley rolled to the floor. EC3 followed and he called Lashley a piece of shit. EC3 then hit a sloppy TKO on the steps, Lashley did not want to take that one and based with his feet to break the fall. Back in, and EC3 went up top and hit the frog splash for the near fall. EC3 missed the corner splash and Lashley hit the spear for a near fall. Lashley then grabbed a chair, and laid into EC3 with repeated shots. Lashley hit the rock bottom and then went into he head and arm choke, but EC3 fought it off and got to his feet. He elbows out, forearms followed and then laid into Lashley with clotheslines. EC3 hit rolling Germans, the one percenter followed but Lashley kicked out. EC3 then hit Lashley with a chair shot, set Lashley up top and followed. Lashley shoved EC3 off and then hit the spear off the second rope and Lashley retains. Champion Lashley defeated EC3 @ 16:20 via pin [**½]. This was a solid, but disappointing main event. They had good ideas, they worked hard, but there were some off spots and this really never hit that high gear that you want out of a big show main event match. They had the match set up like they wanted it to be an epic, they kicked out of all the big moves and they wanted it to feel important. But in the end, they didn’t work all that well together, and they never really elicited the crowd reactions that they wanted with the kickouts and attempted drama. It wasn’t bad, but it fell flat.

– Lashley posed to close the show.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

Bound For Glory was a solid but completely unspectacular show, The company really needed to hit a homerun here to get some attention, and while we certainly had some good hits, we also had a lot of misses. For the price tag I can’t give the show a recommendation to buy, but if you can check out the X-Division opener, Kim’s Hall of Fame speech and the Great War.
