Csonka’s WWE 205 Live Review 8.08.17

OFFICIAL RESULTS
– Tony Nese defeated Cedric Alexander @ 7:28 via pin [**¾]
– Noam Dar defeated Mark Thomas @ 1:52 via pin [NR]
– TJP defeated Rich Swann @ 10:55 via pin [***½]

Cedric Alexander vs. Tony Nese: Nese takes time to put on a posing display for Alexander, but Alexander isn’t here for the gun show and we get to work. Alexander works a series of quick counters, hits a head scissors, dropkick and then takes Nese to the floor and hits an apron moonsault. Back in and Nese battles back, hitting a pop up gut buster, covering for 2. Nese takes the heat, working over Alexander in the tree of WHOA and then working the kicks as he does crunches. Nese continues his assault, posing along the way and then hitting a back elbow for 2. Nese grounds the action with a body scissors, and Alexander is able to escape and hit an enziguri. Alexander fires up with clotheslines, hits another enziguri and then the springboard clothesline for 2. Nese tries to keep away from Alexander, but hits a sitout pump handle slam for a near fall. Nese slaps Alexander around, so Alexander fires up with rights and they work into a nice, fast paced back and forth. Nese then gets the rollup and the tights for the win; although to be fair to Nese, both guys were going for the tights as they worked through the roll up attempts. Tony Nese defeated Cedric Alexander @ 7:28 via pin [**¾] This was a pretty good match, these two work together, but while it started with some crowd interest, they lost them as it went on. It appears that this feud will continue.

– Nese says Alexander is a great athlete, but he’s the premiere athlete, and he’ll always be second best to Nese.

– We see footage of last week’s Gallagher vs. Kendrick brawl. Kendrick is interviewed and says Gallagher doesn’t have what it takes, and got himself DQ’d like a coward and a clown. Gallagher attacks and beats the shit out of Kendrick, who runs away.

– Pre-match, Dar runs down Thomas, saying he’s been watching him for years and adds that at 24 he’s already accomplished more than Thomas has in his career.

Noam Dar vs. Mark Thomas: Dar then tries to offer a handshake but Thomas attacks with crazy fists. Dar quickly takes out the leg, and just beats down Thomas with ease. Thomas tries to fight back, but Dar lays him out with an uppercut and running boot for the win. Noam Dar defeated Mark Thomas @ 1:52 via pin [NR] This was a good re-introduction for Dar, who is playing the entitled young prick role he started when he lost to Alexander and broke up with Fox. I think it works better than the bland little weasel he was playing.

– Corey Graves in his Mr. Rogers 2k17 gear welcomes us to the ring, and brings out Tozawa for a sit-down interview. Just as Graves is setting Tozawa up to discuss his match with Neville, the King makes his way to the ring. Neville says that Graves is trying to run the show by interviewing the challenger instead of the champion. 205 Live is his show and this should be all about him. Neville says he is the champion, he is the hype and ad he talks, Tozawa tosses out his chair and drops his suit jacket for a battle. Tozawa has a question for Neville, and Neville mocks his “pathetic English.” Tozawa asks how he will feel when he loses his title at Summerslam. Neville laughs that off and looks to attack, but Tozawa drops him with a head kick and Neville escapes before Tozawa can hit a senton. Tozawa stands tall and celebrates with the title. This was a pretty good little segment to hype the title match.

TJP vs. Rich Swann: The gimmick here is that they have been friends for years, Swann was upset that TJP turned into an asshole and wanted his pal back. This led to “friendly competition,” where TJP looked to be coming back around to the babyface side, but is still a bit of a dick. Swann lost to TJP in the CWC, but beat him on 205 Live recently. They work a fun and fats paced opening stretch, wit it leading to a stalemate, because they know each other so well. Swann eventually takes control and sends TJP to the floor and follows with a dive from the corner. Back in they go and Swann grounds the action and keeps control. TJP fires up and counters Swann off the ropes and hits the flapjack and then hits rolling suplexes, covering for 2. TJP then hits the slingshot senton, which also gets 2. The bow and arrow follows, but Swann rolls into a cover for 2. TJP keeps control hitting the springboard forearm, and then attacks the arm of Swann to keep control. Swann looks to fire up, avoids the splash and then hits clotheslines and kicks. The running leg drop follows, TJP to the ropes and Swan hits the head scissors to cut him off. They work into a series of counters, TJP looks for the knee bar but Swann escapes and kicks him in the face, and then hits a cartwheel into a corkscrew moonsault for 2. Swann to the ropes now but MISSES the Phoenix splash. Swann counters the detonation kick, goes for a victory roll but TJP slams him to the buckles, hits the detonation kick and picks up the win. TJP defeated Rich Swann @ 10:55 via pin [***½] This was a very good and enjoyable main event, they work very well together, I just wish they could do so in front of a hot crowd.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

The final score: review Good
The 411
This was a good and simple show with a very good main event. Nese and Alexander should continue, the build for Neville vs. Tozawa is good and Noam Dar’s reboot came off well.
