Dana Brooke w/O’Neil & Crews vs. Mickie James: They work a basic opening stretch, with James looking to use her speed against the obvious power of Brooke. James even talks some trash to Titus as she takes early control. Brooke quickly hits a shoulder block and hits a clothesline and cartwheel splash for 2. Brooke follows with a back handspring elbow in the corner, and then grounds the action. James escapes, tries to fire up, but is taken right back down. James does eventually get to her feet, hits the head scissor and picks up the pace with strikes, but Brooke fights off the DDT. James then works a hanging head scissors in the ropes, and then hits a running neck breaker but Brooke rolls to the floor, Titus yells at her to fire her up, back in and James lays in kicks and a running forearm. Brooke counters a roll up and the jackknife cover gets her the shocking win. Dana Brooke defeated Mickie James @ 4:45 via pin [**] This was an ok little match, with Brooke’s work being cleaner than usual and James bringing some solid fire.

– Titus Worldwide takes a victory lap.

– We get clips of Asuka beating Bliss on Raw and Becky’s return on Smackdown, followed by Women’s Royal Rumble hype.

– We then get clips of Owens beating Styles two-weeks ago.

– Back to SMACKDOWN for Styles vs. Zayn. JIP as Styles hits the PELE and gets sent to the apron, but the springboard misses, and the ref gets bumped to the floor. Styles rolls up Sami, but Kevin distracts the ref. Shane shoves down Kevin. The ref tosses Kevin and BRYAN tosses Shane from ringside. Sami hits the helluva and pins Styles. Sami Zayn defeated Champion AJ Styles @ 13:50 via pin [**¾] This was a pretty good main event, but far from what they are capable of. The entire main event scene is about building the Shane vs. Bryan angle, and that’s coming at the expense of Styles, which I am not a fan of. You can read my Smackdown Review at this link.

– Back to Raw for Joe vs. Reigns. JIP as Joe powders to the floor. Reigns follows and Joe cuts of the superman punch and slams Reigns off the steps and says, “this is for Dean,” but Reigns slams Joe to the steps. Both men are down. Reigns looks to pick up the steps and use them, but the ref stops him as Joe dares him to do it. Joe attacks, but Reigns hits a superman punch. Back in and Reigns hits another, but Joe kicks out at 2. Reigns sets, charges but Joe cuts off the spear and shoves Reigns into the ref. Joe then hits the uranage, and Reigns kicks out at 2. Joe is pissed. The crowd loves this. Joe locks in the clutch, Reigns rolls out and hits the spear and that’s that. Champion Roman Reigns defeated Samoa Joe @ 23:05 via pin [****] This was a great back and forth, hard-hitting match that played to the stipulation very well. They had the crowd the entire time, and it was the first thing on the show that really felt great/important. You can read my Raw Review at this link.

Akira Tozawa vs. Tony Nese: Tozawa is looking for revenge as Nese beat him two-weeks ago on 205 Live. Nese takes time to pose, Tozawa is not impressed and they lock up. Tozawa works a side headlock, and then lays in chops. A jab by Tozawa drops Nese, and he lays the boots to him as the crowd chants along. Nese takes control with a running back elbow, covering for 2. Nese then follows with a leg drop, covering again for 2. Tozawa fires back with kicks and the standing senton. Nese cuts off the suicide dive. Post break, and Nese is in control, grounding the action. Tozawa gets to his feet, counters out of a suplex and they both hit big boots for the double down. Nese rolls to the apron, gets sent to the floor and Tozawa hits the suicide dive. Back in and Tozawa covers for 2. They trade strikes and kicks, Tozawa counters the Michinoku driver and hits an enziguri. The top roe senton finishes it. Akira Tozawa defeated Tony Nese @ 5:49 via pin [**¾] These two work well together, and had a pretty good match here. They also had an invested crowd, which had to be nice considering the silence they usually work to on 205 Live.

– Back to Raw for Paul taking & Brock Hopping. Heyman introduces himself, and says WWE continues to stack the deck against Lesnar, making him defend again multiple challengers instead of just one man. Once again, he has multiple opponents at the rumble. We see Braun watching on. Heyman doesn’t like that Brock can lose without being beaten. Heyman says Brock will successfully defend the title, because Brock defends 100% of the time. Brock can beat Braun, Kane, and everyone in the rumble as well, because Brock fears no challenge, challenger, challengers, or monsters. They go to leave, but Kane arrives. Kane chokeslams Brock, but Brock sits up and laughs at Kane and clotheslines him to the floor as the locker room empties to try and separate them. Kane is taken to the back as Brock stands tall. This… was fine. I love Paul Heyman, but at this point it’s the same shit every time out. His timing, delivery and passion are completely on point, but it’s the same thing every time out. Also, where was Braun? He was watching, but didn’t want any? Were they afraid he was too over earlier in the evening and didn’t want him taking shine from Brock? You can read my Raw Review at this link.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

Once again, Main Event was a fine show, with two solid matches, and fulfilling its job as a highlight show. It’s far from bad, but is only worth the time if you like to skip Raw, and I can’t blame you there.
