Alicia Fox vs. Dana Brooke w/O’Neil & Crews: Brooke picked up her first win in forever last week against Mickie James, can she keep her momentum going here today? They lock up and Fox shoves Brooke down. Brooke then slams her down, using the hair. Brooke takes it to the ground, but Fox fights to her feet, but Brooke takes her down with a shoulder block. The slam and cartwheel splash follows, and Brooke covers for 2. She works a grounded bear hug, but Fox fights back and hits a split kick, sending Brooke to the floor. Back in and Fox covers for 2. Fox follows with kicks and knees, and then forearm strikes. She then grounds things with a chinlock. Brooke battles to her feet, but Fox hits the northern lights suplex for 2. Fox gets angry, and tosses Brooke to the floor. Fox rolls her back in, gets distracted by Titus and Brooke pulls her back in and works her over in the corner. The clothesline follows, but Fox cuts off the back handspring elbow and follows with the axe kick, and picks up the win. Alicia Fox defeated Dana Brooke @ 5:40 via pin [**] So the answer to my earlier question was, no. Anyway, this was an ok little match, with solid work and nothing really wrong with it at all. Brooke has been working with a bit more confidence the past two weeks, which is nice to see.

– Back to Raw for Brock hopping, Paul talking, and BRAUN SMASH. JIP as Heyman talks old school, and he and Brock respect that. But wrestling is a progressive industry, but we’ve gotten away from something important, and that is a one on one championship match. One man stepping up the champion, but now, it’s how can Lesnar survive the latest challenges. Last week, Lesnar took Kane’s best shot and laughed in his face, like he’ll do at the Rumble against Kane & Strowman. Heyman puts over Lesnar’s dominance, and says no one can put him down. Kane attacks as Lesnar leaves and they brawl on the floor. They spill backstage and continue the brawl, BRAUN arrives and throws Lesnar through a table and kills Kane, tossing a production box onto him. Braun gets a GRAPPLING HOOK and pulls down a giant light rigging onto Lesnar, setting up another potential murder on WWE programming. Heyman’s promo was more of the same old, well delivered, shit; but the brawl was fun and Braun destroying people is always good. You can read my Raw Review at this link.

– Back to SMACKDOWN for AJ Styles, Randy Orton, & Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn. JIP as Styles finally fires up and hits the ushigoroshi and tags in Orton. He runs wild on Sami, hitting a snap slam. The draping DDT follows. He teases an RKO, but Kevin makes the save with a chair for the DQ, but here comes Shane. He now makes this an anything goes match. Styles attacks with chair shots, and chases Kevin backstage. Orton & Nakamura surround Sami and chase him. Sami runs, but they catch him and post him. Orton gets the steps, hits Sami and they toss him over the announce table. Orton then slams Sami off the table and rolls him back in. Nakamura hits Kinshasa and Orton hits an RKO and that’s that. AJ Styles, Randy Orton, & Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Kevin Owens & Sami Zayn via pin [**] The booking is so backwards here, positioning the heels at the disadvantage, especially when the fans want to cheer for them anyway. Considering the talent involved, I found this completely disappointing and way overbooked as the attention is all on Shane & Bryan’s quest for power. I really hope that this has a great payoff, because it hasn’t made for the best TV. You can read my Smackdown Review at this link.

Akira Tozawa and Mustafa Ali defeated Ariya Daivari and Drew Gulak: Gulak and Tozawa to begin. Daivari detracts Tozawa, allowing Gulak to attack. Tozawa quickly fires back with kicks and a senton, covering for 2. Tozawa follows with a jab and lays the boots to Gulak, Ali tags in and attacks the arm of Gulak. Tozawa back in, and he continues to work the arm until Daivari blind tags in and attacks Tozawa from behind. Post break and Ali is in and heads up top and gets cut off. Daivari follows with a frog splash, but Tozawa makes the save. Daivari tosses him, and Gulak tags back in. he fights off Daivari, tossing him to the floor. Tozawa hits a suicide dive, Ali hits a tornado DDT on Gulak and the imploding 450 finishes it. Akira Tozawa and Mustafa Ali defeated Ariya Daivari and Drew Gulak @ 3:50 via pin [**¼] The edit post break felt as If they completely cut put the heat segment on Tozawa, making this a really short match. They worked hard, it was largely fun, but it was just ok overall.

– Back to Raw for Finn Balor, Luke Gallows, & Karl Anderson vs. Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, & Jason Jordan. JIP get wholesale changes to Rollins & Anderson. Rollins runs wild off the hot tag, hitting a blockbuster and suicide dive. Sling blade to Anderson follows, and does the deal on Anderson with a falcon arrow for 2. Rollins looks for a ripcord knee, but Anderson cuts him off but Jordan then takes out Gallows, Anderson hits Rollins with a spinebuster for 2. Rollins fights off Anderson and Gallows in and takes out Jordan. Rollins hits him with an enziguri, fights off Balor and Jordan rushes in and the ref doesn’t see the tag to Reigns. Magic killer on Rollins. Reigns cleans house sand argues with Jordan. Reigns fights off the good brothers on the floor, Jordan tries to help Rollins, but Balor takes him out and hits a shotgun dropkick on Rollins and the double stomp; Balor picks up the win. Finn Balor, Luke Gallows, & Karl Anderson defeated Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins, & Jason Jordan via pin [***] Balor Club picks u a huge win as Rollins, Jordan, and Reigns couldn’t stay on the same page. Jordan is a complete annoyance for Reigns & Rollins, and the seeds of his heel turn are still there. This was an overall good match, and easily the best in-ring thing on a show that was light on good wrestling. Post match, Miz, Axel, & Dallas arrive and beat down Reigns. Miz hits the skull-crushing finale, the Shield bomb follows; Miz stands tall ahead of his IC title match at Raw 25. You can read my Raw Review at this link.

– End scene.

Once again, Main Event was a perfectly solid little one-hour recap show, but there’s nothing that you have to see here. Main Event used to house some really fun and quality under the radar matches, but those days are long gone at this point, which is a shame.
