Matt Hardy vs. Curt Hawkins: These two faced off two weeks ago here on Main Event, that thrilling & important victory (in theory) allowed Matt an IC Title shot on Raw. It’s ok to laugh; I like to think that Main Event matters sometimes. Matt controls early, hitting a back elbow and fist drop, covering for 2. Hawkins backs Matt to the corner, hits strikes and an enziguri to sent Matt to the floor. Hawkins works him over on the floor, rolls him back in and maintains control. The suplex follows, and Hawkins covers for two before grounding the action. Matt fights back, but runs into a dropkick, covering for 2. Hawkins then trips up Matt, drops the elbow and covers for 2. Matt hits a jawbreaker, strikes and head butts as he makes a comeback. The corner clothesline and bulldog follow. Matt heads to the ropes, hits an elbow and side effect; the twist of fate finishes Hawkins. Matt Hardy defeated Curt Hawkins @ 4:55 via pin [**¼] And so Hawkins loses match 127, as he works toward the reverse Goldberg. The match was perfectly solid and clean, but is another example of the repetition that has been taking over Main Event.

– We get highlights of BRAUN rising from the trash, and killing the Miztourage.

– We also see Angle adding Balor, Joe, and Jordan to Team Raw.

– Back to Raw for BRAUN vs. Miz. JIP as BRAUN starts to toss Miz around. Miz powders again. BRAUN to the floor and he chases and pulls Miz to the apron and posts him. BRAUN to the floor and yells at Axel and Dallas before tossing Miz into the ring. The backbreaker into a slam follows. BRAUN takes out Dallas and Axel backs off. BRAUN slams him to the barricade. Back in and BRAUN tosses Miz to the floor onto his pals. Kane arrives and enters the ring. BRAUN tells Kane he can’t kill him and they brawl. BRAUN fights off the chokeslam and hits the powerslam, Kane sits up and BRAUN sends him to the floor. Miz and Dallas attack, but BRAUN kicks their asses and powerslams Miz. Braun Strowman defeated IC Champion The Miz via DQ [NR] This was all angle, with BRAUN killing people, which is entertaining. I also love that the crowds are ROARING with BRAUN now. You can read my Raw Review at this link.

– Back to Raw for Rollins & Ambrose vs. Cesaro & Sheamus. JIP as the Shield look for dives, get cut off and Ambrose eats a double crucifix bomb to the barricade. The doomsday device hits on Rollins for a really strong near fall. Sheamus tags in and hey look for the double team white noise, but Ambrose makes the save. It breaks down, dirty deeds and the high fly flow gets a near fall as Cesaro makes the save. BUT THE NEW DAY ARRIVE and are in the crowd. Everyone is confused and New Day cuts a promo, running down Raw as the pre-show. Angle rallies the troops backstage to go and get them. They talk about the attack on Raw and how Raw did nothing. Angle and the troops arrive and he sends them after New Day. In the confusion, Sheamus hits a brogue kick and we have new champions. Cesaro and Sheamus defeated Champions Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose via pin [***½] These four continue to work very well together, and had a very good match, even if the finish came off a bit flat due to the long delay. I actually liked the title change as well as it mixed things up prior to Survivor Series. If Roman is back in time, you could also add New Day vs. The Shield to Survivor Series, which would likely be a ton of fun. You can read my Raw Review at this link.

Gallows and Anderson vs. Heath Slater & Rhyno: Slater and Anderson kick things off, battling on the floor. Back in and Slater hits shoulder blocks, and gets a cradle for 2. Rhyno tags in, they double-team Anderson and Rhyno follows with strikes and chops. The clothesline follows, Anderson cuts him off and tags in Gallows. Gallows takes control, laying in rights but then misses a charge. Rhyno clotheslines Gallows to the floor, Slater sends Anderson to the floor. Post break and Anderson cuts off Slater, tagging in Gallows who hits a head kick, covering for 2. Gallows now grounds the action, but then misses the splash. Rhyno gets the hot tag, Anderson in as well but Rhyno hits clotheslines and a corner spear. Anderson up top, gets cut off and Rhyno follows him up and hits a superplex, covering for 2. Rhyno hits belly-to-belly, calls for the gore but Gallows cuts him off. The magic killer finishes Rhyno. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson defeated Rhyno and Heath Slater @ 5:20 via pin [**] The Good Brothers pick up another win on Main Event. This was another solid match, but nothing you need to go out of your way to see.

– They hype Survivor Series.

– Back to SMACKDOWN (shocking I know) for Jinder vs. AJ. JIP as Mahal set Styles up top again, follows him up and they battle for position, Mahal shoves the DDT attempt away but Styles takes him to the floor. The slingshot forearm follows. Back in and Styles hits the springboard 450! The Singhs pull Mahal to the floor. Styles to the floor, chases them away and tackles one of them and beats on him. He takes out the other with a clothesline off the announce table. Back in and Mahal hits the Khallas but Styles makes the ropes. The crowd is almost begging Styles to fight back and win. Mahal sets Styles up top, follows and looks for a super Khallas, but Styles fights him off and stuns Mahal off the ropes. Styles back up, and hits the phenomenal forearm! 1…2…3! AJ Styles defeated Champion Jinder Mahal via pin [***½] The error of the make believe Maharaja has come to an end, at least for now. AJ Styles once again proves just how good he is, selling and bumping his ass off to make Mahal look good. Styles is just on another level and to Mahal’s credit, he played his role well and worked hard, but without a doubt, this was the AJ Styles show. The win felt special thanks to the reaction of the crowd, Styles fought off the Singhs, overcame Mahal’s strength and finish and finally overcame where others failed, which is what the fans wanted. Who would have guessed that putting the belt on one of the best wrestlers in the world and an extremely over guy would be a good move? You can read my SMACKDOWN Review at this link.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

Main Event was once again a solid show, and it was nice that they actually included Smackdown for once; especially since the title change was a big deal.
