Csonka’s WWE Main Event Review 11.11.16

– Jason Jordan defeated Viktor @ 6:35 via pin [**]
– The Usos defeated The Hype Bros @ 12:40 via submission [ **½ ]

– I love that the video open for Main Event features guys that would only appear on the show after being forced at gunpoint.

Jason Jordan vs. Viktor : Nice to see Jordan getting a chance to shine, Viktor is the better worker out of the ascension, Jordan worked amateur takedowns early, and then arm drags and dropkicks; Konnor then distracted Jordan. Viktor worked chops in the corner, trying to beat down Jordan. As opposed to grappling earth him, which is smart. Viktor then missed an elbow drop, allowing Jordan to fire up. Jordan started to toss Viktor around with suplexes. Konnor again tried to be a distraction, but Gable took him out. Jordan hit the corner spear and German suplex for the win. Jason Jordan defeated Viktor @ 6:35 via pin [**] They worked well together and delivered a fine opener here. It was nice to see them get the time here, they need time away from their teams and doing a single here allows you to not burn out a tag match, which we will see soon enough.

– We get the Lesnar vs. Goldberg videos from Raw. You can read my WWE Raw Review right here! The Lesnar vs. Goldberg videos were really good.

– We get highlights from Rusev vs. Zayn; the winner gets to face Dolph Ziggler for the IC Title at Survivor Series. This was an average at best match, which considering both guys involved, felt very disappointing. The finish was flat as hell, and also felt a bit too “slip on a banana peelish” for me.” You’re setting up a title contender, put the winner over strongly.

The Hype Bros vs. The Usos: Ryder in to begin, after some back and forth shoving, The Usos took the heat Mojo claimed that the Uso Ain’t hype. Mojo in and he ran wild for a bit, with he and Ryder working double teams. Jey powdered to the floor, Ryder followed and ate the superkick from Jimmy. The Usos took control back in the ring; nice heat as they kept cutting Ryder off. Quick tags by the Usos as they kept things moving along nicely. Ryder finally hit a neck breaker and got the tag to Mojo. Mojo was of course hype and ran wild taking down both Usos with ease. The usos survived mojo running wild, Mojo is far from good but is a fun hot tag and makes a great opening card act with Ryder Ryder then wiped out the Usos with a dive. The Usos avoided the hype Ryder by raking the eyes. The Usos tossed Mojo to the floor and fought off the rough Ryder. Jey locked in the tequila sunrise for the victory. The Usos defeated The Hype Bros @ 12:40 via submission [**½]that was a perfectly fun little tag match, the work was smart and the Usos controlled the right kind of match, working dirty when needed and allowing the faces their time to shine.

– We now get highlights from Raw’s main event, which was Kevin Owens vs. Seth Rollins vs. Chris Jericho vs. Braun Strowman vs. Roman Reigns. The match was better than most everything on the show, but not by a large degree so it’s not saying too much. I felt they did a great job establishing Strowman as a beast and I dug the finish, because you continue the teases of issues with Owens and Jericho (Jericho helped him once again but Owens comes out on top, while Jericho takes the fall), while also teasing that Reigns and Rollins may be back on the same page. You can read my WWE Raw Review right here!

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.

I liked that they gave the tag guys working Survivor Series some time to shine this week. Philips and Ounga are usually useless on commentary, but I felt they did well here selling that these guys have to work together at Survivor Series despite the fact that they were fighting here; Also the guys all needed some TV time.
