Akira Tozawa vs. The Brian Kendrick: They lock up and work a basic opening stretch, Kendrick takes early control, but Tozawa quickly cuts him off with a basement dropkick and senton. Chops follow. And then Tozawa drops Kendrick with a right. Kendrick manages to cut off Tozawa, stunning him off the ropes and covering for 2. Kendrick then grounds the action, working the chinlock. Tozawa looks to fire up but gets slammed to the mat. The butterfly suplex from Kendrick follows for 2. He goes back to grounding the action, and then whips Tozawa to the corner. Tozawa fires back with elbows, hits a RANA and Saito suplex. Tozawa heads up top but Kendrick bails to the floor only to eat a suicide dive. Back in and Tozawa covers for 2. Kendrick fights off the German, and hits a leg lariat for 2; the captain’s hook follows, but Tozawa makes the ropes. The big boot by Kendrick follows for 2. Tozawa fights off sliced bread and lays out Kendrick with a high kick. The big senton of the top finishes things. Akira Tozawa defeated Brian Kendrick @ 6:24 via pin [**½] This was a nice and perfectly average little opener. They’ve worked a lot together this year and know each other well, and made fine use of the time given to them.

– Back to Raw for Roman Reigns vs. Jason Jordan. JIP as Jordan cuts off the spear and hits rolling northern lights suplexes for 2. Jordan limps over to Reigns, but Reigns counters the suplex and hits the superman punch and spear, and Jordan is done. Champion Roman Reigns defeated Jason Jordan via pin [***½] Despite the commercials messing with the flow a bit, this was a very good match, better than their last. The issues with Jordan have never been in the ring; it’s been the bad angle he’s been put into. He worked his ass off, they worked well together, he got a lot and this was highly enjoyable. You can read my Raw Review at this link.

– Back to Raw for Paige vs. Sasha Banks. JIP as Banks fights off ramPaige into the Banks statement. Paige fights and makes the ropes. Paige rolls to the floor and all the ladies look ready for a fight, and they brawl as Banks and Paige roll back in, Paige kicks Banks in the face and follows with ramPaige for the win. Paige defeated Sasha Banks via pin [***] This was an overall good match, they worked well together, had some great aggression going and this is a big test passed for Paige, getting through a long TV match and showing no negative signs. Post match, Absolution beats down Banks as James and Bayley were down and out on the floor. You can read my Raw Review at this link.

– Back to Smackdown for Orton vs. Zayn. JIP as Orton rebounds with clotheslines and a snap slam. Sami stuns Orton off the ropes, heads under the ring and gets bolt cutters. He tries to free Kevin, but Orton stops that and posts Kevin. Sami attacks, rolls Orton back in and heads up top but Orton crotches him. Orton follows him up top, and hits the superplex. Kevin gets the cutters and frees himself, but Orton takes him out. The draping DDT on Sami follows. Orton sets for the RKO, but he goes after Kevin, but Sami rolls him up for 2. Orton then rolls up Sami for the win. Post match, Kevin and Sami attack Orton, but Nakamura makes the save. Kinshasa to Owens! RKO on Sami. Orton and Nakamura stand tall, and then Orton hits an RKO on Kevin, and then a Kinshasa on Sami follows. Randy Orton defeated Sami Zayn via pin [**½] Considering the talent involved, I felt that this was an extremely average and overall disappointing main event. The match only served as the set up for the post match angle, which while fine, was far from a blow away angle overall. You can read my Smackdown Review at this link.

Luke Gallows & Karl Anderson vs. Heath Slater & Rhyno: The Good Brothers defeated the former Smackdown tag champs a few weeks ago here on Main Event. Slater and Anderson kick things off. Slater takes early control, picks up a near fall and tags in Rhyno. Anderson quickly battles back and cuts off Rhyno, tagging in Gallows. He and Rhyno trade strikes, but Rhyno hits a shoulder block off the ropes and then he and Slater clear the Good Brothers to the floor.Post break, Rhyno is working over Anderson. The belly-to-belly follows, and Rhyno teases the gore, but Gallows distracts him, allowing Anderson to beat him down. Gallows tags in and works over Rhyno with strikes and a big boot, and that gets a near fall. Gallows follows with an elbow drop, covering for 2. Anderson tags back in, and keeps the heat on Rhyno. Quick tags with Gallows here, they beat down Rhyno with ease and keep him isolated in their corner. Gallows and Rhyno collide and we get a double down. Wholesale changes to Slater and Anderson, Slater runs wild on Anderson and looks for a cover, but Gallows makes the save. Rhyno and Gallows brawl to the floor, Gallows takes out Rhyno and Anderson hit a spinebuster on Slater, Gallows back in and the magic killer finishes things. Luke Gallows and Karl Anderson defeated Heath Slater and Rhyno @ 7:37 via pin [**½] This was an over all average, but smartly worked tag match. It was smooth and clean, but just not anything must see.

– Back to Raw for Champions Sheamus & Cesaro vs. Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose. JIP as Cesaro is back in and uppercuts Rollins but Rollins counters the neutralizer and hits the ripcord knee, but Sheamus makes the save. He takes out Sheamus, and Sheamus gets disqualified for kicking too much ass. But wait, Angle restarts the match as a no DQ match. The Shield boys runs wild after the restart and pick up a great near fall almost immediately. Samoa Joe arrives and attacks, helping the champions. Here comes Reigns to even the odds, and he chases Joe away as Sheamus hits a brogue kick, allowing the champions to retain. Champions Sheamus & Cesaro defeated Seth Rollins & Dean Ambrose @ pin [***½] This sets up Roman Reigns vs. Cesaro, Samoa Joe vs. Dean Ambrose, & Seth Rollins vs. Sheamus for Monday’s Raw. – End scene.
