Welcome to WWE Main Event, the house that Curt Hawkins built.

The Authors of Pain vs. Titus Worldwide: I’m thrilled that they had such plans locked in for the Authors of Pain that the yare already slumming on Main Event. It’s not the end of the world, but it’s far from a good sign. Apollo into begin, he works some fast paced offense and random flippity doos until he gets cut off. The AOP take control, isolating Apollo and working quick tags and double teams. It’s all AOP, controlling with ease and pummeling Apollo. Apollo eventually ducks a clothesline and hits an enziguri. Titus gets the hot tag and runs wild with strikes and shoulder tackles; the big boot gets 2. It breaks down, Apollo gets taken out and the last chapter finishes Titus. The Authors of Pain defeated Titus Worldwide @ 4:20 via pin [**] This was an ok extended squash with the Authors of Pain dominating and winning.

– Back to Raw for WWE MITB Qualifier: Bobby Roode vs. Baron Corbin vs. No Way Jose. JIP as Roode follows with a clothesline on Jose. He sets for the DDT, but takes out Corbin, allowing Jose to get a roll up for 2. Jose dumps Roode; Corbin cuts him off and then attacks Roode. Back in and Corbin hits the chokebreaker on Jose for 2. Roode returns and gets a sunset flip for 2. He then runs into deep six and Jose makes the save. Corbin now lays in corner clotheslines to both but gets posted. Roode hits the DDT and finishes Jose. Bobby Roode defeated Baron Corbin & No Way Jose via pin [**½] This was a perfectly average match, nothing wrong with it other than it was the usual triple threat formula and there was no fire at all here. We then go to clips from WWE MITB Qualifier: Kevin Owens vs. Elias vs. Lashley. JIP as Elias attacks, and hits the sitout powerbomb for 2. Lashley brawls with Elias and then hits a press slam. The dominator follows for 2 as Sami attacks Lashley to break up the pin. He hits the helluva on the floor, Kevin hits the frog splash and pins Elias. Kevin Owens defeated Elias & Lashley via pin [***] This was a good main event, everyone got some time to shine, and Kevin picks up the win to sneak into MITB with help from his buddy Sami. You can read my Raw Review here. We then go to Smackdown for MITB Qualifier: The New Day (Woods & Big E) vs. The Bar (Sheamus & Cesaro). JIP as Woods tries to make the save, and then posts Sheamus. Woods tags in and hits a DDT for 2. Cesaro cuts him off, but then gets posted. Woods hits the wheelbarrow driver, but Sheamus makes the save. It breaks down and Big E spears Sheamus to the floor! Woods hits the ropewalk elbow drop and wins! The New Day defeated The Bar via pin [***¼] No surprise, another good match between the two teams. This was a good opening match, and now we wait to see which New Day member gets in MITB. There are a lot of ways they can play this, so it could be really interesting. You can read my Raw Review here. You can read my SMACKDOWN Review at this link.

– Back to Raw for WWE MITB Qualifier: Alexa Bliss vs. Bayley vs. Mickie James JIP as Bliss then hits code red for 2 as James makes the save. They trade strikes from their knees, and Bliss accidentally hits James. They argue and Bayley attacks and runs them together. She takes out James, heads up top and leaps over Bliss, but Bayley cradles her for 2. The Bayley to belly gets 2 as James makes the save. Bayley takes James to the floor and Bliss KOs her and finishes it with a DDT. Alexa Bliss defeated Bayley & Mickie James via pin [**] Another tired triple threat with no real sense of urgency or excitement. It was ok at best, like most of the matches on Raw. And back to Smackdown for WWE MITB Qualifier: Becky Lynch vs. Mandy Rose vs. Sonya Deville. JIP as Deville takes Lynch up top, Rose back in and Lynch dropkicks them down. Lynch covers for 2. Lynch cuts off Rose until Deville lays in kicks to both. The running knee strike gets 2. Lynch counters a suplex, Rose accidentally takes out Deville. Disarmher by Lynch and Rose taps! Becky Lynch defeated Mandy Rose and Sonya Deville via submission [**¼] I love that Becky picked up the win and got into MITB. The match was ok, but largely felt disjointed and far from smooth. These triple threats are all running together, I would have personally preferred more one on one matches. Unfortunately, their plan for that is Lana vs. Billie Kay. You can read my Raw Review here. You can read my SMACKDOWN Review at this link.

Mojo Rawley vs. Chad Gable: Gable grounds things right away, and then follows with a had scissors and grounds things again, working the arm. Mojo fights to his feet, but Gable takes him back down and goes back to the arm. The northern lights follows for 2. Mojo cuts him off with rights, but Gable dumps him to the floor and looks for a high cross and Mojo escapes and tackles him into the barricade. Post break, and Mojo has Gable grounded. The back breaker follows for 2. Mojo keeps things grounded with some extra bland chin locks, randomly yelling things to fake aggression; the cover gets 2. Gable tries to fire up but Mojo rag dolls him around. Gable quickly gets the Suzuki hanging arm bar, and then picks up the pace with a flying forearm. The overhead belly to belly gets 2. Mojo cuts him off but Gable counters into a cradle for 2. The German follows for 2. Mojo avoids the moonsault and hits the running forearm for the win. Mojo Rawley defeated Chad Gable @ 9:12 via pin [**½] This was a solid match with Gable busting his ass to make the most of it until Mojo won.

– Back to SMACKDOWN for Styles vs. Nakamura. JIP as Nakamura takes Styles to the corner, and sets him up but misses the knee strike. Nakamura the cuts off the springboard and hits a running knee strike and Styles falls to the apron. Nakamura follows and teases a suplex, but Styles fights that off. Styles runs into a kick and Nakamura hits a knee strike off the ropes. Back in and the cover gets 2. The Kinshasa is countered into the clash attempt but Nakamura escapes. Styles hits the ushigoroshi and covers for 2. Nakamura cuts off the forearm and hits Kinshasa for 2. Nakamura gets cut off with a spin kick as he went for another Kinshasa. Styles goes springboard, we almost get a ref bump and Nakamura fakes the low blow from Styles. He then attacks with a reverse XPLODER and Kinshasa for the win. Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Champion AJ Styles via pin [***½] This was a very good main event, and my favorite match the two have had so far. They got time and in my opinion, this felt like the first time that it felt as if Nakamura embraced his new heel role in the ring fully. His actions, the work, the mannerisms and the finish all worked really well together and now Nakamura gets to pick the stipulation for the rematch at MITB. Hopefully what he picks is something good and allows for him to win as he really needs to finally screw over Styles and win the title. You can read my SMACKDOWN Review at this link.

– End scene.

– Thanks for reading.
