– Tom Phillips is back on commentary.

Shane Talks: Shane welcomes everyone to the show, and hypes Survivor Series. He says that Smackdown attacked Raw because Raw has always looked at Smackdown as the inferior brand. He says that starts at the top, which his witch of a sister Stephanie. So, despite all the odds, and the draft being stacked against them, they went live and had fun. They created the land of opportunity. They had a meeting and developed their attack strategy, and put Raw under siege. He thanks the fans and the roster. But then Daniel Bryan goes to Raw last night, and he was disrespected and attacked by Kane. Where was Kurt Angle and Stephanie then? There will be hell to pay for that attack. At Survivor Series, Angle can bring his gold medal and his monster, because you will be facing Randy Orton, Shane and three of Smackdown’s best. This was a solid open to continue the build to Survivor Series.

Survivor Series Qualifier (2 out of 3 Falls Match): Bobby Roode vs. Dolph Ziggler: Ziggler grounds the action to begin, looking to use his amateur wrestling skills. Roode quickly fights back, hitting a back elbow. Roode teases the DDT, but Ziggler counters. Roode fires back with a clothesline, and then hits the blockbuster for 2. Roode follows with chops, and then tosses Ziggler to the floor. Roode follows to the floor and slams Ziggler to the barricade. Back in they go and Ziggler catches Roode with a superkick and picks up fall one @ 3:45. We go screen in screen, with Ziggler continuing to go for pin attempts. Ziggler mocks Roode as they brawl to the floor. Back in and Ziggler hits a zigzag for 2. He then works a chinlock, grounding Roode. They battle back and forth and Roode catapults Ziggler to the corner, and Roode gets a sunset flip for the second fall to tie things up at 7:10. Back to full screen we go and Roode hits a uranage, covering for 2. Ziggler counters the DDT and they trade pin attempts until Ziggler hits a DDT, covering for 2. Roode counters the zigzag and hits a spinebuster. Ziggler counters the DDT, hits the zigzag, and that gets a great near fall. Ziggler sets for a superkick, Roode counters and gets a roll up for 2. Roode rolls out of a pin attempt and hits the glorious DDT for the win! Bobby Roode defeated Dolph Ziggler @ 11:37 via (2-1) [***½] This was a very good match, easily the best they‘ve. They had a great crowd, and some nice call backs to the previous matches that really made it work.

– Bobby Roode joins Randy Orton and Shane McMahon on team Smackdown. Renee interviews Roode, who cuts a fiery promo about Survivor Series, proclaiming that Smackdown will win.

– New Day (Kofi as brother Love, Big E as Akeem, and Woods as Jimmy Hart) is backstage in costume and run into Rusev and English. Rusev insults them and Halloween, and dumps out their candy as English sings Rusev day. Big E and Rusev will face off tonight.

– Becky tries to fire up the Smackdown ladies. She says they can’t take any chances and have to be united. Ellsworth is dressed as a dog and barks at her, so Becky sprays him with water. Natalya arrives to ruin the fun and unity, and none of them seem overly impressed with her. Natalya tries to ruin the unity, claiming that they have a weak link.

US Champion Baron Corbin vs. Sin Cara: These two faced off last week, where Corbin lost after getting DQ’d for kicking too much ass. Corbin takes control at the bell, attacking and trying to remove Cara’s mask. Corbin catches him with a big boot and tosses Cara to the floor. Corbin slams him to he barricade, and goes after the mask again. Corbin misses a charge and hits the barricade. Cara battles back, but Corbin cuts off the suicide dive. Corbin again goes after the mask again. To the floor they go, Cara fires up with rights and slams Corbin to the steps. Sin Cara is going all backstage shoot fight on Corbin, tackling Corbin over the announce table. The ref calls for the bell as they continue to brawl. Cara throws a chair at Corbin, who runs away like a bitch.US Champion Baron Corbin vs. Sin Cara went to a double countout @ 2:58 [NR] Another time I maybe fine with this, but Corbin beats AJ Styles and the have done absolutely nothing with what should have been a major win. Add into the fact that he and Miz look like bitches going into their match, and I can’t imagine anyone caring about their match.

– Renee interviews the Usos. They have Smackdown on lock, and they will prove that they are the “a-team” of this so called “b-brand.” Gable and Benjamin arrive and inform them that they get their tag title shot next week.

– Mahal complains about being ejected from last week’s match. He then claims that Lesnar should be afraid of him. He will beat, victimize and conquer Lesnar at Survivor Series; he will be known as the beastmaster.

AJ Styles vs. Samir Singh: Singh slaps Styles, who immediately tackles him and kicks his ass. Styles hits the clash and wins. AJ Styles defeated Samir Singh @ 0:35 via pin [NR] SQUASH

– Post match, Mahal attacks and beats down Styles. He posts Styles and then bends him around it as Samil lays the boots to Styles. Mahal hits the Khallas and stands tall. He then hits another Khallas.

– Sami meets with Owens, and they complain about Shane taking all of the best opportunities. Sami hilariously complained about Orton winning with a low blow, “what kind of man does that?” after he originally beat Orton with a low blow. Owens says he will beat Nakamura and lead Smackdown to victory, and Shane will owe them for it.

– We get a Bludgeon Brothers promo.

– English sings a special Halloween song, mocking New Day, and proclaiming it Rusev Day.

Rusev vs. Big E: English, Kofi, and Woods are at ringside. Rusev attacks at the bell, stealing Big E’s hat and stomping on it. Big E quickly fights back and lays the boots to Rusev in the corner. Rusev to the apron and pulls Big E throat first into the ropes and then viciously posies him. we go screen in screen as Rusev beats down Big E on the floor, and then rolls him back into the ring to start working the arm. Solid but unspectacular control here by Rusev. Back to full screen as Rusev continues to work the arm. Big E finally fires up, escapes and hits a series of suplexes. The running splash follows, Rusev escapes the big ending but Big E hits a uranage. English tries to rally the crowd, Woods plays trombone and they brawl into the ring. Big E takes out English but eats a superkick from Rusev and Rusev wins. Rusev defeated Big E @ 7:32 via pin [**½] This was a really solid match overall, with Rusev picking up a much needed win. Also this will give New Day something to do, feuding with Rusev & English while they are out of the title scene.

– Sin Cara gets interviewed, and says that his mask is part of him and when he puts it on, he’s a superhero for his kids. He had a hard life, and went through hell to get his mask and will go through hell to keep it.

– English meets with Shane, and Rusev bursts in and yells RUSEV DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY! Rusev wants on team Smackdown, and Shane cuts off English’s next song. Shane says Rusev will get a chance next week; he just has to beat AJ Styles. That could be a GREAT match.

– Time for STRAGNERER THINGS. Tyler Breeze is in on the gag this week. The Eggos are called “Uggos” in the skit. Konnor dresses up as Kane, and they think Raw is invading and attack him. All the tag teams are on the bulletin board and the Bludgeon Brothers light up. The lights go out, everyone gets beat down, and when they come back the briefcase is there with a puppet like in Saw saying, “Let the games begin.”

Survivor Series Qualifier: Shinsuke Nakamura vs. Kevin Owens: They brawl at the bell, Owens looks to bail but Nakamura talks him back into the ring. They fight to the floor; Owens cuts off Nakamura, slamming him to the apron. Post break, Owens plants Nakamura with a superkick, covering for 2. Nakamura takes control, covering again for 2. Owens hits a DDT, covering again for 2. Owens lays in some 12 to 6 elbows, and then keeps Nakamura grounded with a chinlock. Nakamura battles to his feet, works knee strikes and forearms. The running kick follows, and then lays in kicks to the chest of Owens and follows with an enziguri. Nakamura hits the knee strike in the corner, covering for 2. Sami Zayn now arrives, allowing Owens to roll up Nakamura for 2. Nakamura sets Owens up top, he follows and Owens fights off the superplex and hits the twisting fisherman’s buster off the ropes, covering for 2. Nakamura counters the pop up powerbomb and hits a knee strike for a near fall. Nakamura backs off, sets for Kinshasa but Owens bails to the floor. Nakamura follows and gets sent to the steps. Back in and Owens hits the frog splash, but Nakamura kicks out! Great near fall. Sami clears off the announce table, but Orton arrives and slams Sami onto the table. Nakamura now hits Kinshasa and picks up the win. Shinsuke Nakamura defeated Kevin Owens @ 12:35 via pin [***½] This was an overall very good match, they work well together and played well to the crowd. I am not the biggest fan of the interference finish, but the four guys involved have history and it played off of last week and the tag match prior to that. With Sami and Kevin losing, I can see them fucking over team Smackdown to make Shane’s life hell.

– Shinsuke Nakamura joins Bobby Roode, Randy Orton and Shane McMahon on team Smackdown.

I thought that this week’s episode of WWE Smackdown was a really solid show, with two very good matches, a better focus on Survivor Series and setting up two matches for next week. This was a vast improvement over Raw.
