Dakota Kai Recalls the First-Ever Women’s WarGames Match

– During a recent edition of Getting Over, WWE Superstar Dakota Kai discussed her past experience with WarGames matchups. She competed in the first-ever main roster women’s WarGames match at WWE Survivor Series over the weekend. Below are some highlights (via Fightful):
Dakota Kai on her experience with WarGames: “The very first one, when I turned on Tegan (Nox), I didn’t even get into the cage that year. I was still proud of it, but I didn’t get into the cage, The next three years, they had me start every WarGames match [laughs]. They were probably like, ‘you know what, you didn’t even get the opportunity the first year, let’s just put you in right from the start.’ I love the WarGames match so much. I think it’s due to many things like the NXT Women’s WarGames match, it was the first-ever Women’s WarGames match. I think, at the time, our NXT women’s division consisted of Rhea Ripley, Shayna Baszler, Bianca Belair, Candice LeRae, myself, IYO. We were very close knit and we all had the same goal in terms of elevating women’s wrestling and doing the best we could for it.”
On being part of the first-ever women’s WarGames match: “To have that opportunity to be the first-ever women’s WarGames match, we were very grateful and didn’t want to drop the ball. Every year since then. I have started and it’s very grueling. There is no way you can even prepare for a match like this. I’m lucky to have been in a couple before, but how do you prepare for WarGames? You can’t, really. I was worried about being in there for so long this year because I haven’t been in anything like this since returning back. ‘I hope my cardio holds up. 50 minutes and I’m starting with Bianca Belair.’ There are so many different elements to a match like that, that I love. There are so many things you can play around with and I love that unpredictable element of WarGames match. I’ll take the moniker of Ms. WarGames.”
