Details On Why Tom Phillips Was Absent From Smackdown

As we previously reported, Michael Cole filled in for Todd Phillips during Tuesday’s episode of Smackdown. During the broadcast, Cole noted that Phillips was “on assignment.” Wrestlingnews.com (via Sportskeeda) reports that while it was believed Phillips was gone for personal reasons, those reasons are actually good. Phillips married his fiance on Saturday and was given time off for his honeymoon. He will be back for the next episode of Smackdown.

If there was concern over Phillips absence among fans, it may be because he’s not the first talent to take time off. We reported earlier today that Kevin Owens was pulled from weekend events for ‘personal reasons.’ Not to mention Nia Jax, whose WWE status is unclear.
