Fandango Wouldn’t Mind Having A Career Like Scotty 2 Hotty

March 6, 2019 | Posted by Joseph Lee

WWE has released a new video in which they talk with Fandango about his shoulder injury and what he hopes to accomplish upon his return. Here are highlights:

On getting cleared to train and how he feels: “Yeah, so I had a labrum tear in July of 2018 and I was out of the ring for six months. I just got cleared to come out here to the PC. Get here, work out, stretch, about thirty minutes of cardio in the ring. As the days progressed, I could feel my cardio getting better and better. So it’s pretty much just ampin’ the cardio up and getting my injury acclimated to the motions of professional wrestling. You can’t really mimic that in a rehab facility or physical therapy.”

On his goals for 2019: “I was watching some of my old matches. I liked doing kind of the comedy stuff in the ring but I think I’d like to have some more serious matches. Dusty would always tell us ‘it’s your body of work’ and I’ve kinda checked the comedy box off on my body of work.”

On his comedy work: “I’m proud of the cool vignettes we’ve done and promos and being able to show personality and character, comedic timing, something that I didn’t have a lot of 10-15 years ago when I first started wrestling because I was intimidated by the camera. I didn’t really know who I was in terms of personality. So being able to come out of your shell and let your guard down in front of the camera was something that it took me a while to overcome.”

On his place on the card: “If you went up to 13-14 year old Fandango and go, ‘you’re going to be in eight Wrestlemanias when you get older, but you’re going to lose on Superstars a couple of times’, I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t give a shit, you know? Look at a guy like Scott Taylor. It’s weird because Scotty’s from the exact same hometown as I am and I enjoy being around him because he has such a positive outlook on life and work. But a guy like that, you know. He probably got a deal in like 94-95 and he was there until 2008. He made a lot of good friends, everyone loves him. If I can have a career like him, what else can you ask for?”
