Post Wrestling reports that Georgia Championship Wrestling will return on October 3 with a show in Eatonton at the Elks Lodge.

The company hasn’t been active in a long time. Owner Grady Odom, who has been in charge for 36 years, ran events from 1990 until the mid-90s after originally going on hiatus in the mid-80s. Reunion shows were held in 2011 and 2012, as well as a memorial show in 2018 for Big Bill Dromo. The most memorable period for the promotion was its original run from the 70s through the mid-80s, as it featured names like Jake Roberts, Ted DiBiase, The Hollywood Blonds (Rip Rogers & Ted Oates), Randy Savage, Dusty Rhodes and Harley Race.

The show on October 3 is not expected to be a one-off as a full revival is being planned. Promoter and wrestler Chris Nelms will wrestle on October 3 and is a big part of the revival with Odom and Tim Rice. Rice and Nelms are specifically handling producing and booking. He said the plan is eventually for the Georgia-based promotion to work with 4-5 other companies in the state under the Georgia Championship Wrestling banner.

Nelms said a “Georgia Championship” will be the main title that all companies under the banner could fight for. They were currently trying to get more dates in other towns. Broadcast plans include a possible web series or local television. Interviews for the October 3 show will be on Facebook and footage will be uploaded to Youtube some time after. Legends from the past will make appearances as the shows continue.
