According to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, James Ellsworth is not under WWE contract. He’s just being used on a per date basis, and only for TV, not live events. While this means that WWE likely has no long-term plans for him, it has reportedly helped him with indie bookings, since he is appearing on WWE TV.
