John Cena On Why He Doesn’t Name Dream Opponents For Retirement Tour
John Cena has never been one to name his dream opponents, and he recently explained why. The WWE star conducts his retirement tour next year, and he was declined to name any dream opponents during an interview with Extra.
“Oh, I think the great thing about WWE is the story never ends,” Cena said (per Fightful). “And it always seems to grow in reach and grow in popularity. So even after I’m retired, I would want to have illusions of like, ‘Oh, what would a match be like with this person or this person?'”
He continued, “I never try to marry myself to those concepts, because that stuff is beyond my control. I just kind of take the opponents that I’m given and try to tell the best story I can.”
Cena will work 36 dates on his retirement tour next year including Raw’s debut on Netflix, the Royal Rumble, and WrestleMania.
