Kevin Owens spoke to WWE.com (via SportsKeeda) after his return on Smackdown Live and spoke about how he was approached by Vince McMahon to replace Kofi Kingston as Daniel Bryan’s WWE Fastlane opponent.

He said: “I’m going to address something that a lot of people have an issue with and that’s the fact that I’m taking Kofi Kingston’s place in this match at Fastlane, after he more than earned that spot in that match. And that’s totally fair. Look I’m not blind. I’m not deaf. I’ve been watching for the last 5 months. But more importantly I’ve been watching for the last two weeks and I’ve seen this phenomenon and I’ve seen it happen. What they call KofiMania. But the thing is I negotiated this with Mr. McMahon. First of all, he came to me. Which was a surprise to me as much as it was to anybody watching tonight. The thing is I would be crazy to turn that down no matter how much Kofi Kingston deserves it.

He also talked about how he spent the last five months at home with his family recovering from knee surgeries. He said it was hard to leave the house due to how much he loves his family, but he thinks this opportunity is worth it. He added that he plans on taking the WWE title at Fastlane.
