Kofi Kingston Confirms Xavier Woods Is Hurt, Talks Vince McMahon’s Return

In an interview with the New York Post, Kofi Kingston confirmed recent reports that Xavier Woods is not cleared to compete, but said he’ll be better soon. Here are highlights:

On Shawn Michaels personally requesting The New Day in NXT: “Shawn Michaels was my guy, so anything he asks me to do I’m gonna do it. It was an honor to be asked, to be summoned by Shawn Michaels to NXT because he’s Shawn Michaels, but it’s always something we wanted to do. We always wanted to go down there and mix it up with Pretty Deadly.”

On Xavier Woods’ status: “[He’s] getting better and better every week. We are able to progress our storyline and let him rest and recover. He’ll be good in no time. He’s made a lot of progress already.”

On Vince McMahon’s return: “It’s great that Vince is back. Obviously when he left, there was a huge void, especially for me. Ever since I’ve been on the roster, WWE without Vince was unconscionable. When he stepped down, it was like ‘Oh my goodness, I can’t believe this is happening. Is this actually really real?’ But also it was great to have a bit of a change with Triple H at the helm, being able to do things in the way that he did and Stephanie and [CEO] Nick Khan. It’s always good in WWE to have change. Now that Vince is back, it’s change again.”
