– During last night’s edition of Raw, WWE Hall of Famer Kurt Angle defeated Chad Gable. After the match, Kurt Angle took part in a backstage interview to talk about the win and picking Baron Corbin as his WrestleMania 35 opponent. You can check out that clip below.

Kurt Angle on facing Chad Gable: “Well, I’ve had lots of respect for Chad Gable. I’ve heard about him, coming to the WWE, coming up here, he was the one man I wanted to face and it’s been two years, it took me that long to get the opportunity to get in the ring and face him. He’s a champion, and he’s one of the best technical wrestlers in sports entertainment today. It was quite an honor to go out there and tear it up with him. He is as good as it gets.”

Kurt Angle on encouraging Chad Gable in his youth: “I’m glad I motivated him. Obviously I motivated him more than to be a sports entertainer, he obviously was an amateur wrestler. I’m sure he was doing it back then. To be a hero in his eyes and a champion of what he wants to be and what he has become, I can’t ask for anything more than that. I always wanted to be a role model for somebody, and I’m glad I was for Chad Gable.”

Angle on picking Baron Corbin: “Well, I know it wasn’t the popular pick. I know a lot of fans were hoping for somebody else, but for me, he’s the one guy who has gotten to me more than anybody. He has rocked the boat with me so many different times, and I never really got a piece of him the way I wanted to. And for me to end my career by making Baron Corbin tap out, that would mean the world to me. Sure, I’d love to face John Cena or AJ Styles or Samoa Joe or Braun Strowman, but Baron Corbin is a great wrestler. Regardless of how you feel about him, he is really good, and he’s a great challenge for me at WrestleMania. I believe that when I beat him, I will be a very happily retired man.”

Angle on his WrestleMania memories in the Allstate Arena: “Yeah. Anytime you’re in an arena where you main evented Wrestlemania or you had some special match, it always bring some memories back. Chicago is one of the most popular cities for sports entertainment, so I remember WrestleMania 22. It was against Rey Mysterio and Randy Orton. I didn’t win the match, but I didn’t lose. It was a great performance by me, but unfortunately, I lost the title that night because Rey Mysterio beat Randy Orton.”
