Mark Henry Evaluates Why Tiffany Stratton Is Losing Momentum as Champion

– During a recent edition of Busted Open Radio, WWE Hall of Famer Mark Henry evaluated the segment on last week’s WWE SmackDown featuring Money in the Bank winner Naomi and WWE Women’s Champion Tiffany Stratton. Henry noted that Naomi was getting bigger and more positive reactions than Stratton in the segment, critiquing why Stratton’s title run is currently losing momentum. Below are some highlights (via WrestlingInc.com):
Mark Henry on Naomi getting bigger reactions than Tiffany Stratton on SmackDown: “I don’t think it’s happened. There’s an example, several examples, of championship caliber wrestlers being hot as fish grease, and then a month later, they … [fade].”
On the importance of a champion maintaining momentum: “You have to keep the momentum going in a way that is conducive with that character or person, keeping your attention, but also, if you lose, you should lose because there was a cheating moment or you should lose because a serious injury happened and you caught and pinned, the referee got bumped.”
Henry on what he thinks is hurting Stratton’s title run right now: “Tiffany is not having moments where she wins and loses by exciting things happening. Things that further along her greatness and her abilities, and that’s gotta change, otherwise she’s going to be one of those characters that become forgotten.”
During the television segment, Naomi didn’t accept Stratton’s offer to try and cash in her briefcase last week. Naomi instead claimed that she would cash in her briefcase on Stratton when she “least expects it.” For now, it looks like Naomi has targeted Stratton for eventually cashing in her briefcase.
Stratton is not currently slated to defend her championship at WWE Night of Champions 2025, which takes place on Saturday, June 28 at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. It will air live on Peacock in the U.S. and on Netflix internationally.
