Miro on How He Cherishes Getting to Wrestle The Undertaker, Being a Part of Undertaker’s Entrance at WM 29

– During a recent gameplay stream, former WWE Superstar Miro (aka Rusev) spoke about The Undertaker retiring at Survivor Series and his past work with The Undertaker in WWE. Additionally, Miro was used to help with The Undertaker’s entrance for his match with CM Punk at WrestleMania 29. Below are some highlights and a video of Miro speaking about The Undertaker.

Miro on getting the chance to wrestle The Undertaker: “Sometimes, I forget that I wrestled him. And to just sit back and think how wild that it. It’s just so random. It’s so random that I got to wrestle him, but it was such a great opportunity. And I will always cherish that opportunity because he’s now gone. He’s done. And whoever wrestled, he wrestled. And to me, to have been one of them, it means so much, man because I remember being just a kid watching him, the debut and the whole thing and always imitating him at school, the Deadman and The Undertaker. Everyone always knows The Undertaker. And now that I had to wrestle him man. That’s just unbelievable. This is just as wild as being able to pose with [Hulk] Hogan and working Triple H. You know, nobody can take that away from me. And that’s what I cherish most. I don’t care about winning, losing. I don’t care about these things. These are the real things that I cherish is being able to work with these legends and being able to share the ring in the same profession and being able to look each other in the eye and respect each other as professionals, as co-workers. And that’s what means the most to me, the respect. It’s not about anything else.”

On being nervous about approaching Undertaker before their match: “When I had the opportunity to see him before the match, I was kind of starstruck. I was so starstruck, even though now I got to work with him. It’s so intimidating. And he’s not a bad guy at all. He’s so nice. He’s just so quiet, and I don’t know, I don’t know. It was really interesting. It was really interesting. Like, how do I approach him? What do I say? What do I do? You know? Really nervous.”

On how it was different than when he worked with John Cena: “Because it’s not like when I was working with Cena. Beginning with Cena, I was nervous as well. I was always — not nervous, but how do I approach him? Because clearly, they’ve been there forever, but with Cena, I got to work with him for months, and you know we built that trust. And we built that rapport and we got to do it more and more. But with Taker, it was a one-off, and I’ve talked to him probably like three times before that, you know. So, that’s why it was so special.”

Miro on being in Undertaker’s entrance for his match with CM Punk at WrestleMania 29: “I don’t know if you guys know this, but I’ve done his entrance. I think WrestleMania with Punk in New York. WrestleMania 28-29, whatever that was I was part of his entrance. You know, when he came out with the hands underneath, when he was like coming out from hell, and there were these hands like poking out, I was one of those guys, 29. I was one of those hands. They got all of us developmental people because we di Axxess. We wrestled at Axxess, so they used us for Taker’s entrance, and we all got to do that. Man, there was so many of us. So many of us. Almost pretty much anybody that you see on TV now in the past few years, it was us. So being there for that, just think about from a kid, then I’ve met him once, I met Taker once on my tryout SummerSlam 2010, when I had my tryout to WWE. I met Taker then, and he just walks out, and he’s just this smiling guy, and he’s like, ‘Hey guys, what’s going on,’ and we’re just these extras.”
